The following text is displayed when you enter the Lapis Quarry for the first time:

NEW AREA DISCOVERED! ⏣ Lapis Quarry ■ The Lapis Quarry can now be traveled to via the Lift Operator. ■ Mine Lapis Lazuli Ore ■ Talk to the Lapis Miner. ■ Watch out for Lapis Zombies!

Purpose

The Lapis Quarry is the second floor of the Deep Caverns, accessed from the end of the Gunpowder Mines. Players can encounter Lapis Zombies and mine Lapis Lazuli.

Players can also talk to the Lift Operator, who allows for quick access to each caverns layer.

There is also the Lapis Miner, who explains that he has broken his Lapis Pickaxe and requires a new one. Giving him one rewards you with a Compactor.

September 11th, 2019 0.7.1 Fixed Iron Ore and Gold Ore sometimes spawning in the Lapis Quarry.
April 1st, 2022 Minor Patch Changed delimitations of the Pigmen's Den and Lapis Quarry to avoid the wrong blocks being generated in the wrong zone.
August 22nd, 2023 0.19.3 Added the Lapis Miner as a new NPC in the Lapis Quarry.
