It’s a little more challenging to get exact figures for each year of Larry Bird’s NBA career, as he predominantly played in the 1980s. Based on the information available, when Bird joined the Boston Celtics in 1979, he signed a five-year, $3.25 million rookie contract, which paid him approximately $650,000 per year.
