'Brought' and 'bought' can be confused because they sound almost the same. Let's learn the difference in pronunciation and read on to find out more about their meanings.

'Brought' is the past tense of bring.

When you pronounce the word 'brought', listen for the 'r' sound after the 'b'.

I brought my guitar along with me.

'Bought' is the past tense of 'buy'.

I bought Korean curry powder.

When you pronounce the word 'bought', there is no 'r' sound after the 'b'.
