What is a Lectern and What Does It Do in Minecraft

Lecterns are great to use if you have a Book and Quill lying around and have nowhere to put it. They make for great stands to use that fit any meeting situation.

If you’re willing to put in the work they’re also used to power Redstone dust with the right tools.

How to Assign a Villager as a Librarian

Assigning a villager as a Librarian is a simple process, and having one around saves you some time too. Librarians are known to sell book-related items such as Bookshelves Lanterns, Enchanted Books, and when the Librarian is maxed out they’ll sell Name Tags. But to assign a villager as a Librarian all you have to do is destroy their old job block if they already have a job. Or if they don’t have a job, place the Lectern near them so they can claim it. You’ll know that you’ve successfully assigned a villager as a Librarian when you see green sparks around the Lectern. As well as a change in clothes for the villager.

How to Use Redstone With a Lectern

Using a Lectern to fuel Redstone is a lot of fun if you know how to do so. You’re going to need a Redstone Comparator right next to the Lectern, and it’s important to note that the lectern only fuels up to 15 Redstone dust. You’ll also need a Book and Quill for this method to work and there has to be text in the book.

If you want to, you can only put text in two pages and turn to page two to fuel all 15 Redstone dust. But if you’re Book and Quill has text on all pages, you’ll need to turn to page 15 to fuel all 15 dust, the same goes for pages 2-14.
