ID=19041135BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) – A diner featured in the Oscar-winning movie "Sling Blade" is reportedly closing. According to Shelli Russell with MySaline.com, its last day is slated for Friday, Nov. 14.

Russell called The Dairy Barn on Edison Avenue and Cox Street "one of Benton's staples." She wrote, "There have been several restaurants to open in that location of course, but it's been The Dairy Barn for I guess about five years and Bob and Scottie, who run the place, have done a fine job with making great drive-in food and the best shakes you ever had."

"Slingblade," was filmed in 1995 in Benton. One of the most memorable scenes was shot at the diner, featuring an exchange between Billy Bob Thornton and John Ritter.

In Russell's story on MySaline.com, she wrote, "…It appears from what Scottie [the owner] says that the folks who rent the building to them are asking them to leave."
