Their lifespan is just as short as they are. Average lady bugs lives only for 3-6 weeks. In this surprisingly short lifespan, they could eat around 5,000 aphids; this is because right after they emerge from their larvae they start feeding on aphids.

There are other bugs which the lady bug enjoys to eat besides aphids. These bugs include broccoli worm, mealy bugs, pit scales, boll worm, tomato horn worm, armored scales and some others. There are some species of lady bug which feed on plant leaves but they are very rarely seen.

Some of the lady bugs also enjoy eating eggs of moth, pollen and mildew. The next time you are wondering what do lady bugs eat; don’t think of insects alone because they feed on lots of things other than that. Mushroom and other types of fungus are also on their list.
