The Lexicon was a device created by the Dwemer used as a portable information repository, stored with the sophisticated knowledge of the Dwemer.

It is a quest item found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is received from an Argonian, From-Deepest-Fathoms, who can be found on the Riften Docks. Receiving the Lexicon from her will initiate the quest "Unfathomable Depths."

Physical appearance[]

The Lexicon is a small, black cube with glowing red hieroglyphics crafted by the Dwemer.

Function[]

The Lexicon is actually a portable information repository, containing the memories and knowledge of countless Dwemer. Accessing this knowledge is done with the use of a Lexicon Receptacle.

Once the lexicon cube is returned to its stand, "Elder Knowledge" is received, and grants the active effect "Ancient Knowledge." The perk grants a permanent 25% armor bonus when wearing Dwarven Armor and Smithing increases 15% faster.

•  PC   360   PS3   After completing the "Unfathomable Depths" quest and the Lexicon is removed from the pedestal in Avanchnzel, it may remain flagged as a quest item, meaning it cannot be removed from the inventory.
  •  PC (Fix)   Force-drop the item using console commands.
