The Grave Digger's Handbook is the first book that Liesel stole. She found it lying in the snow on the day of her brother's burial. She brings it to the Hubermann's house, and hides it under her bed. A Song in the Dark is the book Liesel stole from Ilsa's library ,before Liesel received the Duden Dictionary and Thesaurus. Not much is known about A Song in the Dark except that she stole it without Rudy's help, and she picked the book because it was green.
