Career
American rapper Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., also known as Lil Boosie, had his introduction to rap with the group “Concentration Camp” in the ’90s.
Boosie’s cousin Young Dee introduced him to Baton Rouge rapper C-Loc, who led to his joining the rap group.
In 2000, he released his debut album, “Youngest of da Camp,” and joined Trill Entertainment, which helped expand his opportunities in the music industry.
He gained recognition at the Trill Awards, which celebrates Southern hip-hop and urban music, winning categories like “Artist of the Year.”
Influencing Young Artists
An important turning point in Boosie’s career came in 2002 when he released the independent album “For My Thugz” after his debut as Lil Boosie.
A year later, Boosie and rapper Webbie worked together on the album Ghetto Stories, which Pimp C released later in the summer of 2003.
While recognized as a prominent figure in Southern hip-hop, he has influenced artists such as Kevin Gates and Young Thug.
Since Boosie’s influence on Kevin Gates, he has been nominated for various awards, such as the iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New Hip-Hop Artist.
Boosie won an Ozone Award, and although he did not win, he was nominated for multiple BET Hip Hop Awards, including “Best Mixtape.”
In 2005, he collaborated with Lava House Records to release “Street Code” and teamed up with Pat Lowrenzo for “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.”
A year later, Boosie signed with Warner Bros. Records and released his label debut album “Bad Azz,” featuring artists Bun B, Yung Joc, and Kiara.
In 2006, he released various mixtapes, including “Streetz Iz Mine,” “Boosie 2Pac of the South,” “Bad Azz Mixtape Vol. 2,” and “Streetz Iz Mine 2.”
Boosie got a four-year prison term for drug and gun offenses and faced a first-degree murder indictment, plus receiving a ten-year sentence for drug charges.
In 2015, following his indictment, he released his sixth studio album, “Touchdown 2 Cause Hell,” with Rick Ross, Chris Brown, and Webbie.
Releasing A Joint Album With Snoop Dogg
That year, he changed his stage name to “Boosie Badazz” and released “Life After Deathrow” mixtape alongside Yo Gotti, Shy Glizzy, and Z-Ro.
Notable artist Trey Songz also featured on the mixtape, featuring on the song “Facetime,” Shy Glizzy also contributed to the track “Young N****z.”
He appeared on Webbie’s 2008 single “Independent” and was one of numerous rappers featured on the track by DJ Khaled titled “Out Here Grindin.”
The song “Out Here Grindin” has been certified Gold and Platinum by the RIAA, indicating both its broad appeal and financial success.
Following his prison release, Lil Boosie released albums such as “Incarcerated” (2010) and “BooPac,” which featured collaborations with Foxx and Lil Trill.
He established “Bad Azz Music Syndicate,” his own label, alongside Taquari “TQ” Hatch, marking a meaningful step in his music career.
Under his own music label, Boosie, alongside Snoop Dogg, released their joint album “Penitentiary Chances” with C-Murder in late 2016.
In the summer of 2009, Boosie also released Thug Passion on his Bad Azz Entertainment label, together with fellow rapper Hurricane.

Throughout his extensive career, Boosie has worked with artists such as Kelly Rowland, Justin Bieber, 50 Cent, and Lenny Kravitz.
Because of his diabetes diagnosis, he is a major supporter of organizations focusing on diabetes awareness and research.
He is also involved in charity basketball games and back-to-school drives in his hometown of Louisiana, demonstrating his commitment to community support.
Despite a few challenges along the way, Boosie continues to contribute to the cultural landscape of hip-hop, leaving a lasting impact on the genre.
To cap it all, Boosie expressed doubt about marriage, fearing possible financial loss in the event of adultery, and has eight children with six women.
Real Estate
In a 2017 interview with DJ Vlad, Boosie explained how he bought 40 acres of land on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia, for just $250,000 in cash. The previous owner was going through a divorce at the time and needed a quick sale. Boosie invested an additional $2.7 million into building a 22,000-square-foot estate towards the front of the lot.
Boosie later acquired an additional 26 acres adjacent towards the back of the property, where he built another swimming pool and basketball court, plus four small homes designed for his kids. There’s also a 6th home on the estate.
At one point, Boosie rented his mansion to people for $15,000 per night and earned $315,000 from leasing it to a film production company for a few weeks.
