Introduction

Lil Tjay is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter with an estimated net worth of $600 Thousand.

Music Career

Before becoming a prominent up-and-coming music industry rapper, Lil Tjay started making and releasing music on SoundCloud in 2016. Although he was only 16 years old, his song “Resume” quickly gained popularity online, prompting him to continue making music.

Two years later, he took part in the NYC All Ages Edition of Coast 2 Coast LIVE and took home first place. This performance landed him in the sights of a record label executive, which allowed him to release his single “Brothers” and sign with Columbia Records. Within ten months, Lil Tjay’s music career quickly gained steam. He released another five tracks, which collectively received over a million plays on SoundCloud.

Moreover, the same year, he worked with CashMoneyAP, a French record producer, to release “None of Your Love,” which earned over 10 million plays. Finishing out 2018, Lil Tjay released his debut EP, No Comparison, which was a huge hit with his fans.

Hitting The Big Time

Following an eventful year, Lil Tjay started 2019 by being featured on Polo G’s single “Pop Out,” which hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In July 2019, he appeared on PrettyMuch’s “Lying” and later released another EP, F.N., which earned him his first solo charting song. Lil Tjay then released his debut album, True 2 Myself, which hit #5 on the Billboard 200 and further propelled his fame. To finish the year, he was featured on a remix of 24kGoldn’s song “Valentino,” which went viral on TikTok.

Not one to sit around for long, in early 2020, Lil Tjay hit the Billboard 100 again with his single “20/20,” which hit #94. A few months later, he released another EP, State of Emergency, which was based on the popular drill music subgenre. Thanks to his newfound recognition, he also appeared on XXL’s 2020 Freshman Class roster as an up-and-coming rapper to watch.

Destined 2 Win

Lil Tjay started 2021 by releasing his single “Calling My Phone,” a collaboration with singer 6lack, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The following month, he released another single, “Headshot,” in collaboration with Fivio Foreign and Polo G. This song was the second single from his second studio Album, Destined 2 Win, which consisted of 21 tracks in total.

While that album was released in April, in October of the same year, Lil Tjay released another single for his upcoming third album! Titled “Not in the Mood,” this song was teased on TikTok in September, though the album itself wouldn’t be released until 2023.

Overcoming Setbacks And Releasing New Music

In early 2022, Lil Tjay started teasing a new song, “In My Head,” which sampled Iyaz’s 2009 song, “Replay.” Later in April, he released another EP, Strictly 4 My Fans, followed by another single, “Beat the Odds.” This song relays details about his near-fatal shooting, which occurred in June 2022 and took place during an attempted robbery.

After being shot seven times by Mohamed Konate, Lil Tjay underwent emergency surgery to save his life. The following year, he announced that a new album was coming, releasing the singles “June 22nd” and “Project Walls.” Released in July 2023, his third studio album, 222, sold 22k in its first week and earned millions of downloads online.

Legal Issues

In 2022, Lil Tjay was shot multiple times during an attempted armed robbery at a restaurant in Edge Water, New Jersey. He underwent emergency surgery and now reportedly suffers from PTSD. However, just months after being shot, the Bronx rapper was arrested during a routine traffic stop in New York City while on his way to film a music video with rapper Ice Spice. The police found several loaded guns inside the Cadillac Escalade he was in with his friends. The guns were confiscated immediately, and Lil Tjay and two others were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

He was reportedly released on a $90,000 bond and attended a court hearing in January 2023 to plead his case. Shortly after, he was rearrested for failing to appear in court. However, this was not his fault because one of his judges gave him the wrong information. As of now, the status of his gun charge case remains unclear.

Offset $10,000 Loan

In January 2025, Lil Tjay announced that he was still waiting for Migos rapper Offset to pay back $10,000, which he had given him as a loan during a night at a casino. Lil Tjay claimed that Offset has a gambling addiction and is financially irresponsible, having borrowed money from multiple people yet failing to pay it back.

Lil Tjay publicly stated that he wasn’t the only person Offset asked to borrow money from at the casino that night. He claimed that he had witnessed Offset borrowing another $3,000 from random people. Lil Tjay said he gave Offset $5,000 first and another $5,000 later in the evening. He thought nothing of it as Offset already had a successful rap music career and should be good for the money.

However, years after the loan was made, Lil Tjay still hasn’t received his money back, taking to social media in March 2025 to air his frustration. As of now, it looks like Lil Tjay still hasn’t received his money, and it’s highly likely he won’t see it anytime soon.
