Kicking off his career at age 12 he has been a hip-hop stalwart ever since, joining hip-hop duo The B.G.’s, group Hot Boys and finally venturing out as a solo rapper with his debut album Tha Carter.

Selling over 120 million records worldwide and bagging four Grammy Awards, the rapper has solidified himself as one of the biggest names in hip-hop and a leader in the southern hip-hop genre.

2010

Wayne releases his seventh studio album Rebirth.

2011

Wayne releases the fourth installment of Tha Carter series – Tha Carter IV. The album features Bruno Mars, Drake and Jadakiss.

2013

Wayne is dropped from him PepsiCo promotion contract after releasing a song containing derogatory lyrics referencing civil rights icon Emmett Till.

Lil Wayne releases his 10th studio album I am Not a Human Being II.

2014

Tha Carter V release date is pushed back for a second time. Wayne issues a statement stating that Cash Money Records boss Birdman refuses to release the album. Wayne claims he is being held “prisoner.”

2015

Wayne self-releases Sorry 4 tha Wait 2 – a mixtape intended to compensate for the delay of Tha Carter V.

Wayne sues Birdman and Cash Money Records for a reported $51 million.

Wayne releases Free Weezy exclusively through TIDAL as one of the new artist owners.

2016

Wayne releases Gone ‘Til November – a memoir and revealing account of his time spent incarcerated.

2018

The long-awaited Tha Carter V debuts at number one on the Billboard 200.

2019
