Introduction

Lil Yachty is an American professional rapper and singer with an estimated net worth of $8 Million

Since releasing his first mixtape, Lil Boat, in 2016, Lil Yachty has become one of hip-hop’s most successful artists, having released five studio albums and sold over 12 million records. A predominant source of his income, aside from album sales, is his extensive live performance calendar, which often includes a hundred shows per year.

Earnings History

In 2017, Forbes listed Lil Yachty as the 20th highest-earning hip hop artist of the year, raking in $11 million through all his endeavors. That year, he reportedly performed at over a hundred live music events and secured several lucrative endorsement deals with brands such as Sprite, Target, and Nautica.

Before Wealth & Fame

Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, Lil Yachty developed his signature hairstyle as a teenager after he began working at McDonald’s. His mother asked him to cut his hair to impress the manager, but this later led to Yachty experimenting with his personal style. Lil Yachty worked part-time at McDonald’s while attending Pebblebrook High School and briefly attended Alabama State University. However, two months into the semester, he dropped out entirely to pursue music full-time.

Shortly after leaving college, Lil Yachty moved to New York City to take advantage of greater networking opportunities, which helped him expand his social media following. At the time, he was uploading his music solely to SoundCloud, the platform that would ultimately propel his work into the mainstream.

Cryptocurrency Lawsuits

In recent years, Lil Yachty has been heavily involved in cryptocurrency and even created his own, named the YachtyCoin. The coin was released on the Ethereum network in 2020 and sold out within a short period. However, its current situation is unknown.

SafeMoon Lawsuit

In 2021, many influential celebrities began promoting a new cryptocurrency coin called SafeMoon, which was later revealed to be a “pump-and-dump” scheme. The list of celebrities, which included names such as Jake Paul, Soulja Boy, Nick Carter, and Lil Yachty, helped promote the coin on their social media accounts, but didn’t disclose that they were being paid to do so. In Lil Yachty’s case, he received $10,000 worth of SafeMoon tokens as payment for the promotion.

The heavy marketing led to SafeMoon’s trading volume jumping by 875% in April 2021, and an inevitable 80% collapse by the end of the year. SafeMoon LLC’s executives were later indicted on securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering, and the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December 2023.

In February 2022, investors filed a civil lawsuit that mentioned numerous celebrities, including Lil Yachty. Most of the people in question settled, and Yachty ended up paying a $40,670 settlement related to the undisclosed crypto endorsements action brought by the SEC.

Tronix & BitTorrent Settlement

In a similar case in March 2023, the SEC also charged Lil Yachty with undisclosed cryptocurrency endorsements related to Tronix (TRX) and BitTorrent (BBT). This time around, he paid a $400,000 settlement without admitting wrongdoing.

Real Estate

In June 2020, Lil Yachty paid $1.5 million for a 5,335-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in Jonesboro, Georgia. According to public records, he still owns the property, which is currently estimated to be worth $1.85 million, and costs him roughly $20,500 in annual property taxes.
