When They Come for Me Lyrics

I am not a pattern to be followed The pill that i'm on is a tough one to swallow I'm not a criminal, not a role model Not a born leader, i'm a tough act to follow I am not the fortune and the fame nor the same verse Telling you to forfeit... Write your interpretation Notify me of new interps

I totally agree with the old LP catch up thing, but when hear this song, I think about my peers at school. They make fun of me and can't hang with nearly anyone, but not to be boastful, I'm way smarter and way ahead of them all. So those motherfuckers oughta stop talking start trying to catch up, cause although I'm not a pattern to be followed, I'm the synonym of heat, synonym of crack, closest to a beat, and faaaaaar from a punk.

This is a simple interpretation; it simply means that all of the old Linkin Park fans want them to change back and make music like they used to. "I am not a pattern to be followed" means that they doesn't want to stay the same.that also means that they cannot be changed simply because people want them to. later on during the first verse, he talks about hating the fact that most people at first hated their music, but later on people like their old music and not their latest songs. try the ketchup motherfuc*er =)

Yep, this song tells the people whining about the new albums to catch up and stop whining. I wanted to add something that you guys didn't say, that when he says "And all the people say" Chester starts singing "aahhhaahhh" like it was people whining, and Mike answers "Try to catch up motherfucker!". Pretty awesome song I gotta say xD.

Also, "When they come for us, We'll be gone" was a book published in 2010 about the Jewish oppression in the Soviet Union into the 1960's and 70's. Wonder if it's any reference to that.

I'd like to say it has to do with whining fans notice how Mike says once they get a 'theory' of how the thing works everybody wants the next thing to be just like the first referring to albums possibly

I guess this song is a critic to government that is used to do bribe. Notice when the song said "i'm not a robot, i'm not a monkey, i will not dance even if the beat's funky" I guess 'the beat' means money, because it's related to this lyric "lauren said money change a situation, big said it increases a complication." So LP wants to tell us that as a human, we shouldn't be like robot or monkey that want to do anything because of money. We shouldn't be like our government that always do bribing cause money can increase complication.

It is telling their fans to accept their new style of music, and try to catch up

all of that seems true, but also it seems to have an undertone of not submitting to opressive society. Like kinda saying "Im not perfect, but Im no criminal either, and I wont be your 'monkey'

I definitely agree to that. There was the "I am not a pattern to be followed" thing and "Try to catch up, motherfuckers" but there is also "and not the same person telling you to forfeit the game," a line from the intro and bridge of Points of Authority, if some remember. "Forfeit the game before somebody else takes you out of the frame," blah blah blah. Point is, he's saying they're not quite the same anymore, and they're not gonna change 'til they're good and ready to, and if they wanna change, nobody can stop them. Also, my Mom thought at first when they performed on Saturday Night Live that the lyrics were really weird. Sure shows her. LOL! :)

I agree that this song is to tell the "fans" of LP that don't like the guys changing that they need to stop. The "Try to catch up motherfuckers" is telling them that they have to stop whining and catch up to the new style.

I think that hey wrote this song just so to make the old LP fans "Catch Up" to their new style of music. But trust me, I too like their old style and would love if they return to that.
