The first sixty days of a calf’s life is one of the most critical periods in the life of the animal. What happens physically and physiologically during this period may affect, both positively and negatively, the productive outcomes for the rest of the animal’s life. It may be exposed to several different organisms that may cause disease and even death. Even if the calf survives these challenges apparently unscathed, the alterations in growth rates can still affect its productive life.
