Lisa Edelstein Doesn't Regret Missing Out On The House Finale

Lisa Edelstein looks back fondly on her years as a star of House - without having any regrets about missing the series finale.

The actress famously left her role as House's love Dr Lisa Cuddy after a seven-year run on the show in 2011, opting not to reprise the role for 2012's series ender.

Discussing that decision with TV Line, Edelstein suggested that Dr House and Dr Cuddy were never truly meant to live happily ever after together.

"I don't think that show was about happy endings," she stressed. "And the truth is, if someone drives a car through your living room [like House did] you should do what I did and get the f**k out of town.

"I mean come on. It kind of all worked out. Let's tell it like it is. He drove a f**king car through her living room. With the baby and family inside.

"That's crazy. You file a police report and you leave - and you don't come back for the f**king finale."

In spite of Cuddy's sad end, Edelstein says she has nothing but happy memories of her time on the Fox medical drama.

"It was a great experience. To be on a show that was such a big hit… it changed my life," she explained.

"It ended sadly, but the ending does not change the whole experience."

Back in 2011, House star Hugh Laurie called Edelstein's decision to leave for a role on The Good Wife  a "great shock".

"Not only was she a great asset to the show as a performer, but we also just miss her company, because she is an absolute hoot to have around," he said at the time.

Throughout its eight-season run on Fox, House won five Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.
