Looking for experience/review of Comet's Eagle chassis with 206 application. Trying to make a decision on which chassis to purchase . They are local and have available parts, etc. which is a plus, but just don't have much experience or info on them. 0

Best chassis out there right now for 206 racing. We have won on numerous different Eagles over the years. What do you want to know? Call Gary Lawson or Steve Knight at Comet and they can tell you anything you might want to know about the chassis. T

Thanks Ron! That's the way I'm leaning right now, but just wanted to get some feedback from people who have had some experience either good or bad with them. 0

In the last few months, we have had 4 locals buy Comet Eagles to replace their existing karts. They are inexperienced but were amazed at how much better the Eagle felt and tuned compared to their existing karts. In the Maxxis sprint series, every race in the Senior 206 class or the All Pro class that an eagle was entered in was won by an Eagle (5 wins out of 5 races). Only time an Eagle did not win was at the first Maxxis race in Jacksonville when no one entered the All Pro class that drove an Eagle. fatboy1dh

Where are you racing? I assume NCMP? CIK set-up or Senior? Are you a big guy? Completely new to the sport or just looking to upgrade chassis? 2

I have no experience with the Comet karts but to me they just seem like a very entry level chassis (reminds me of the RoadRat's), although not to that degree. It just doesn't seem like a 'professional' chassis, if you want to call it that. *shrugs* Again, this is just my perspective looking from the outside....... I would invest in a Euro chassis, but that's just me, most of you folks in here are gun-ho about sticking to 'Murrica stuff. C

We all missed you 20k, where do you go for months at a time? I do have to disagree here though, just cause a euro kart looks fancy doesn't mean its any good. The Eagle is based of off the Arrow AX9 4S, which is fancier looking but more or less the same kart, that Eagle is as good as any and better than most karts available today. S

Good chassis. I wouldn't mind having one my self if I could find one locally. sundog

Every chassis manf has an affordable model so look around. Eagle looks like a good design with modern features except for the cam front end adjusters. Haven't looked lately but when Eagle first came out they didn't have full length rear bumpers. If that's still the case don't forget to figure that into the price. Personally I would take a good look at the Margay Ignite K3 or the Brava 4.15 if you need the Limo option and modern caster/camber adjusters. BTW a road rat kart is the asphalt version of a cheap yard kart = not for racing/dangerous. 0

I have had experience with the road rats as well as the Comet Eagles and there is no comparison between the two. The importer was less than 50 miles from my house and we even tried to get a class started for them locally. A road rat is a Chinese built crap kart that is a waste of time if you intend to race. Forget even trying to tune one. Welds will break before you ever get it to run well. Or it will bend out of shape and never scale good. The Eagle is one of the most successful karts in 206 racing to date. There were three Eagles practicing at the local track yesterday and all were fast. There was one new guy who had 2 Road Rats. I hated to tell him he was wasting his time. 20K_RPM's, considering your comments, I would have to believe you have zero experience with a Comet Eagle or Briggs 206 racing. There are actually a couple of chassis manufacturers that are copying the Eagle now due to it's success in Briggs 206 racing. I have two of them. My 2015 chassis that swept Daytona in 2015 and 2016 stills runs as good as the first day it was put on the track. My new 2017/2018 chassis runs exactly the same lap times as my older chassis. We had the 2015 chassis out yesterday. P

I know it's not as crappy as the Road Rats...... I was just making a point that it is mostly just copies of other karts here and there and put together. If you want an analogy, Comet Karts would be Cuckoo Puffs instead of Cocoa Puffs, or say, Lice Crispies instead of Rice Crispies. You get the drift. They never were there back then, putting it down on the tracks and building a name for themselves..... instead just figure they can make a killing in the karting industry by knowing how expensive this hobby is ($5,000 for proprietary bolt) because they own a store and just copying other karts, changing a few details, and badged it as theirs and then marketed as some sort of 'High Tech Professionally Engineered Racing Kart' or whatever. Yeah, I'm angry.... angry at these kart companies eye-gouging it's consumers for long enough with their ridiculous prices just because we can't find parts at the hardware store so we have to fork over $5,000 for a stupid proprietary bolt that takes half a penny to make because they know we can't get it anywhere else! OK, got off-track (pardon the pun).... rant over. :P 0

Compare a complete new Comet Eagle cost to a new complete Tony Kart cost and tell me who is ripping off the consumers. And I've had numerous Tony Karts, Kosmics and CRG's. European karts are built with higher horsepower engines in mind. The Comet Eagle is just right for the Briggs 206 and that's why I have two. If someone built a heads up better chassis for the Briggs 206, I would have one. Some chassis builders are getting close but have yet to show me their chassis is superior. fatboy1dh

The Comet Eagle may be based on other karts, but I can tell you it is not an exact copy of anything. 20k, if you want to make an analogy, if would be like The Arrow 4S is Fruit Loops and The Comet Eagle is Apple Jacks. They may be the same shape, but they are not the same cereal... I was lucky enough to witness some of the development that went into that chassis and if you think they blindly copied another kart, you are mistaken. OP, if you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out to me. I have owned 2 of them at different points in my karting life. Will it make you a winner as soon as you buy it? Prolly not. But it is a good kart with lots of pros and a few cons. T

The Eagle comes with a 1 1/4” axle, what would be the best size choice for 206 Racing? Thanks,Johnny 0

We run 40mm axles. Most run the 40mm H2 Black extra soft Arrow axle. Minor cost for the upgrade but well worth it. Robbins Racing

I would recommend getting a TonyKart Chassis. Also, I have the perfect Chassis for your 12yr old once you decide to ditch the Comet:) https://classifieds.ksl.com/listing/52574427 You must log in or register to reply here. Share: Facebook X Bluesky LinkedIn Reddit Pinterest Tumblr Email Share Link
