Screenshots have long been a feature of Steam, but you may find yourself asking: where are Steam screenshots saved? Well, we’re going to answer that question right here (and tell you how to take a screenshot in the first place). There are two different methods for locating screenshots to take you through, so make sure you check both of them out to see which route works best for you.

Gaming opens up the possibility of endless screenshot-worthy moments, whether that be something hilarious, or just a quick snap to show off a gaming accomplishment. Either way, screenshots are for sharing, right? Well, if you’ve pressed the screenshot hotkey and then come to realize it’s nowhere to be found, you’re probably looking in the wrong places.

If you aren’t familiar with navigating the various folders that make up Steam, you may struggle to find where Steam screenshots are saved. Fortunately, this article is here to help you out. We’ll be going over where to find Steam screenshots so you never struggle again.

Before we get started on where the screenshots live, it’s probably a good idea to explain how you actually take a screenshot first.

The process of taking a screenshot when inside a Steam game is very simple. All you have to do is press ‘F12’ when you want to take a screenshot. To notify you a screenshot has been taken, a pop-up notification will drop down from the top left-hand corner of your screen.

Once you’ve taken a screenshot, here’s how to locate it.

How To Find Steam Screenshots

There are two methods to finding screenshots you’ve taken on Steam. You can use the application’s built-in screenshot feature, or, search through the various Steam folders. First off, we’ll be looking at the former.

Start by opening the Steam application

Simply load up Steam and have the application open on your desktop.

Click the 'View' option from the menu bar at the top

From the list of options at the top of the screen, simply click the ‘View’ tab to open the drop-down menu.

From the 'View' menu, click the 'Screenshot' option

Inside the Screenshot uploader, you’ll be able to see the most recent screenshots you’ve taken. You can filter the screenshots if you wish to filter out the game you want to find.

Click 'Show On Disk' to see the folder the screenshot is in

At the bottom of the screenshot uploader, you’ll be able to click the ‘Show On Disk’ to open the folder where the screenshot is saved. 

And there you have it, a simple way of finding where your Steam screenshots are saved. There are other ways of doing it, where you navigate to that particular folder via My Computer etc, but this is by far the easiest method.
