Loctite drying time? How long should you let loctite dry before you fly? __________________ [B]Phoenix Sim V5.5, Spektrum DX9, PowerLab 8, iKon 2 HD, SAB Goblin 770

It is slightly variable based on fit. When at the field and a repair is needed, we let it set for 20 minutes to 1/2 hour and have not had anything loosen up. Over night is ideal. Even more critical is that the parts are degreased very well. Electrics and gassers this is usually just with new builds, on nitros, it is never ending.

24 hours is what I recall as what is on the bottle. I have only waited a couple of hours on a few repairs and had no problems. __________________ Team HeliDirect Flying Align - Powered by Pulse

An hour or two is plenty of time. Overnight is unneccessary. In the heat of the summer, I have loctited things and had to remove them 10-15 minuted later and it was already cured.
Loctite will reach about 50% strength in an hour, it takes 24 hours for full strength. You will notice some locking effect in 15 minutes. Not all thread lockers are the same, there are many different brands and formulations and they all have different strengths and cure times. Many people use the name "Loctite" as a general term for all thread lockers. Loctite is a specific brand. Loctite makes a bunch of DIFFERENT formulations that are all blue. __________________ Jeff Borowski

The cure of the Loctite (as we speak of that brand) has data sheets telling the time for it to cure depending on room temperature. Go look it up !

Personally, I think you'd have to fly very hard or have to have some weird vibrations in your helicopter to let a just loctited screw come loose in flight. I think the loctite isn't for flight one or two, but rather for flight 50 where things may have started to get loose if no locktite was applied. I've loctited screws on my helicopter, walked outside and flown it without a problem. I do prefer to just let it dry 24 hours though, just to be safe. really though , ive put on locktite , finished doing the work , and sometimes ive rechecked bolts... couldnt be more the 5 or so minutes , and the locktite is allready settin nicely , . do a test , take some random thing (broken part etc) put locktite ona screw or 2 turn 1 after 5 minutes , and the second after 10 minutes , youll get a good gauge of how long it takes to setup..... only thing i can think of , is different metals "may" have presidence over the time table....but i wouldnt think anything dramatic. __________________ Warp, 6HV LED,6HV, Alien 450 MR, 250 mini Quad racer(4s monster) FPV rules the roost!

You can also look into Loctite primer. Depends on which primer you use, the setting time can be reduced down to few minutes. Look for 7649 Primer N or 7471 Primer T. http://www.mcmaster.com/#loctite-primers/=jun333

Shoot, if its in the field and its not critical then 15-30 min. Otherwise its usually overnight / few days. __________________ Gosky S1 Steam AK420 Nimbus 650 Team HardCore
