How to make a love potion

You'll need simple ingredients from your kitchen. Plus, you'll want to start with a good mood and good intention. Valentine's Day is the time of the year when we celebrate love. It's a lovely time when you can get vulnerable and show your heart. This alcoholic love potion is the perfect way to start the day. Breakfast in bed in a romantic setting usually calls for Mimosas but this time we created something red, colourful and aromatic.

To make your perfect brew you will need a ruby gin (I used the Bombay Bramble Gin Blackberry & Raspberry), a lemon and the tonic of your choice. To decorate the glasses, you'll need some chocolate and pink sprinkles.

Melt the chocolate using the bain-marie technique. Dip the edge of your glasses into the chocolate and immediately dip into the pink sprinkles. Allow it to cool and set.

In the meantime, create your love potion. In a larger cocktail jug, place 2 shots of ruby gin, a touch of freshly squeezed lemon and pour around 500 ml of your favourite tonic water. Want your love potion to be sweet and even more aromatic? Then switch out the tonic water for ginger ale.

Mix gently with a cocktail spoon and place in a beautiful glass bottle. Serve with the chocolate sprinkle glasses on the side, on a beautiful breakfast tray. Add fresh berries in the love potion or on the side.

Why you'll love this love potion

The red gin is bursting with natural flavours of freshly harvested blackberries and raspberries. The real infusion gives this alcoholic beverage a distinct ruby colour with all-natural sweet and fruity flavours. No added sugar makes this indulgent gin a perfect start to your love potion.

Raspberry fruits served in a love potion

The red summer berry aroma intoxicates us first, quickly followed by its rich fruity juniper and green spice. The palate is a strong juniper and citrus taste with aromatic red berry roundness & liquorice spice. The finish is smooth and dry with slight waxy pine notes.

What makes this potion special is the aftertaste of blackberry and raspberry lingering on the tongue, long after the love potion has been drunk.
