LSD

LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is a psychedelic drug that was first synthesised by Albert Hofmann in 1938. Its psychedelic properties were discovered in 1943 when Hofmann accidentally ingested some and had a now iconic bike ride home. LSD generally comes absorbed onto a small square of paper and is sometimes available as a clear, tasteless liquid or dropped onto sweets/sugar cubes.

Effects

The effects of LSD generally take around 30-90 minutes to kick in and will last 9-14 hours:

• Visual and auditory hallucinations
• Distortions of time and perception
• Spiritual connection to the earth/other people
• Confusion
• Anxiety/paranoia
• Disorientation
• Psychosis-like symptoms

Dosage

As always, the appropriate dose will depend on your weight, tolerance and gender, amongst other factors. This is a guide only:

Strength	Dose
Low	20-100 µg
Common	65-175 µg
High	175-250 µg
Heavy	250+ µg

Harm Reduction Advice

• Acid can take a while to kick in, anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, so avoid re-dosing within this time, even if the effects aren’t as strong as you’d expected.

• Acid lasts a long time (12ish hours), so factor this in before you take it.

• Think about your set and setting. If you’re not in the right headspace, or not feeling comfortable in your environment, save your trip for another day.

• Sometimes acid can be overwhelming, or you can experience a ‘bad trip’. It can be helpful to have a ‘trip sitter’, someone who remains sober, who can provide support and reassurance, and get help if necessary.

• Use with people you know and trust in a calm, safe environment, especially if you’re new to psychedelic drugs.

• Mixing drugs, including alcohol, can be risky. Mixing acid with other drugs with psychedelic properties (e.g. ket, shrooms, 2C-B, cannabis) can lead to an overwhelming experience. Click here for more information on drug combinations.

• More physically harmful substances such as the NBOMBe series are sometimes sold as LSD. Acid is tasteless, so if a tab has a chemical taste, spit it out (if it’s bitter, it’s a spitter).
