Rory, the future daughter of Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer entered season six with a bang, proving to be one of the most challenging foes the pair have faced.
It is revealed in the final episode of season six, and the series as a whole, that Lucifer abandoned Rory during a crucial moment in her life.
Throughout the show, Lucifer has been receiving therapy from Dr Linda (Rachael Harris), which has led him to realise that he doesn’t actually want to become the new God.
Instead, he has decided to become Hell’s therapist, helping lost souls find peace and ascend to Heaven.

When Rory comes to the past to find him, she reveals that Lucifer left her when Chloe was on her deathbed.
But Lucifer explains that he and Chloe had a mutual agreement that he belongs to Hell, while she belongs to Earth.
This means that Lucifer couldn’t be with her when she died or will die, meaning he was just fulfilling his duty as Hell’s therapist.
As Lucifer is not the new God, the mantle is passed on to his brother Amenadiel (DB Woodside), meaning peace is restored.

Once Rory realises why Lucifer abandoned her, she goes back to the future to be with her dying mother Chloe.
Finally, once Chloe passes away on Earth, she is reunited with Lucifer in Hell, with the two set to live out the rest of eternity together.
This brought Lucifer’s story to a close, answering fans burning questions and sending off the beloved characters in style.
Season six marks the end of the show, with Netflix confirming there will not be a continuation beyond this point.
