Luke Bryan says his mom turned on the charm while filming her cameo in his “One Margarita” video.
The country superstar’s 25th No. 1 single “One Margarita” brought a fun, summertime music video, filmed in January on the beach at Crash My Playa in Mexico. The video included cameos from lots of people who are “somehow connected” to Bryan in “some funny way” including his mom, LeClaire, and his wife, Caroline.
“We filmed it in late January, when we were down there for Crash My Playa. We were down there living in a world that we didn’t even know that would be so precious and special, but yeah we had fun making the video.” Bryan told Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Upon filming the video he didn’t know that the song was going to be a single from the new album, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here, but they wanted to film a video over the course of seven or eight hours as it was the perfect scenery for the beachy tune.
Bryan’s mom, LeClaire, was the star of the music video aside from the singer, as she seemed to have the best time during the filming. She even ended up on someone shoulders at one point in the video.
Bryan said on Monday’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. that his mom nearly backed out of the video at the last minute.
“My mom calls me that morning and she’s like, ‘Oh, I’m under the weather. I’m tired. I don’t want to come down here and do the video,’” Bryan recalled to Meyers.
However, she know how to “turn on the charm” once the cameras start rolling.
“She shows up and when the lights, camera, action — when the cameras roll — she’s dancing on barstools, table tops, getting on people’s shoulders,” he said. “She knows how to turn on the charm.”
Bryan performed “Born Here Live Here Die Here,” the title track from his new album, during his visit to Late Night.
