Lululemon Define Jacket Review: Does It Give A 'BBL Effect'?

If you've been on TikTok at all lately – and, let's be real, who hasn't!? – then you'll likely (read: definitely) have seen videos of people claiming that the Lululemon Define Jacket 'gave them a BBL'.

For those who don't know, a BBL (aka Brazilian But Lift) is a cosmetic procedure whereby fat from areas of the body, such as your hips, stomach and thighs is transferred to the bum to give a fuller, rounder appearance.

Despite being known as one of the most dangerous plastic surgery procedures there is – figures show that one in 3000 BBL procedures results in death – BBLs have skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, with the number of BBLs performed increasing globally by 77.6% since 2015, according to research by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Understandably, for many people the rewards of having a BBL do not outweigh the risks, meaning that for those in search of a bigger bum, the hunt continues.

Of course, putting in extra time at the gym and focussing on your peach is a sure fire way to build the booty. But remember, having a derrière to rival the Kardashians isn't the be all and end all – your bum is perfect as it is and beauty standards are constantly changing, so chasing after one probably isn't the best use of time!

Nevertheless, for those still dreaming of a quick fix to their booty dreams... enter Lululemon's Define Jacket. Touted on TikTok as giving wearers a 'BBL effect', the jacket has gone viral on the social platform with some videos racking up over two million views along with plenty of praise from people who've purchased one.

But, with so much hype around the Lululemon Define Jacket – and a pretty hefty price tag attached, too – does it really do everything TikTokers claim it does? I decided to put it to the test. The BBL test.

After seeing the, err, impressive results of the Lululemon Define Jacket on TikTok, I was really excited to get one for myself. When it came around to ordering one, my size (a UK 10) was out of stock so I needed to size up (to a UK 12) – at the time, I wasn't sure whether this would impact how much of a 'BBL effect' I'd get.

Fast forward a few days and my jacket had arrived, ready for me to eagerly put it on and admire my newly accentuated booty. Sadly however, sizing up meant I didn't quite get the 'BBL effect' that I'd seen on others. That's because in some areas, like around my waist, hips and arms, the jacket is slightly baggy – which probably wouldn't have been an issue if I had a size 10.

Despite the issues with sizing, the jacket has been tailored to hug the body so I can definitely see how it could give you "curves in all the right places", as Mika sang back in 2007. Side note: there's no right or wrong place to have curves.

Overall I'm still happy with the jacket, which feels really high quality and has a tonne of cool features – like holes for your thumbs! The Lululemon Define Jacket is really cosy too, so I can't wait to pop it on when I head out for my chilly winter workouts. Maybe I'll focus on building my booty that way instead!
