This song, composed by the famous self-educated black Methodist preacher, Charles Albert Tindley, was recorded in the early 1960s by Elvis Presley. ASCAP now lists the song with Elvis having the composer credits -- probably because it is his arrangement -- and owned by the Auerbach Trust, the heirs to Hill & Range Songs, Elvis Presley Music and Gladys Music. No disrespect intended to the talent of Elvis Presley, or anyone else, but in my opinion, Tennessee Ernie Ford did a more heartfelt version of this song than any other I have heard. Top Post Reply
