Evolved from: Machoke (trade) Evolves into: -
Locations: Machamp cannot be found "in the wild" in either of the three versions. The only way to get it in Red or Blue is to trade with another Game Boy Pokemon owner. As soon as it is transferred to another game, Machoke automatically evolves. In Yellow, it is a little easier. Just trade a Cubone to the girl in front of the underground path south of Cerulean City, and you will get a Machoke, which will subsequently evolve into Machamp.
This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques:
LV 01 - Karate ChopLV 20 - Low Kick LV 25 - LeerLV 36 - Focus Energy LV 44 - Seismic TossLV 52 - Submission
Tips: Machamp is everything that Machoke was, plus then some. It learns the exact same moves at the exact same level as Machoke, but it's got actually more attack power than almost every Pokemon in the game. On the downside, its Defense,Special and Speed stats don't quite live up to the rest (still, they're above average). Coupled with the fact that it's a Fighting type that doesn't learn any truly great Fighting attacks, this handicaps what otherwise is a fighting powerhouse. If you're into Fighting Pokemon, you can go wrong with training a Machamp, but remember that most of your opponents will be faster and get the first hit in.

As far as attacks go, Machamp only learns the two basic Karate Chop and Low Kick fighting attacks, however, Submission (which is learned at level 52) can actually be very effective. Though your Pokemon suffers 1/4 of the damage it inflicted on its opponent, Machamp has enough HP to make Submission a good attack technique against tough opponents. If you plan to raise Machamp to level 65 and higher, be sure to keep Seismic Toss (which it learns at level 44). This is remains one of the top techniques for high-level Pokemon. Sadly, Seismic Toss is actually more effective when used by a non-Fighting type with high Defense, HP and Speed stats, but Machamp learns it "for free", so I won't complain...

When using a Fighting Pokemon in battle, watch out that your opponent doesn't have any Psychic or Flying attacks -- otherwise the fight is over in no time at all. Use Machamp against Normal, Ice or Rock Pokemon for best effect. Note that Fighting Pokemon also have strong defenses against Bug types, but their Fighting techniques don't do much damage against bugs. Of course, Seismic Toss should do the trick. On the other hand, if you're going up against Machamp, use a fast Flying or Psychic Pokemon, or any non-Normal type that knows Psychic techniques. Sometimes, it's necessary to start off with status-altering techniques and slowly wear down Machamp's massive amount of HP -- but one powerful Psychic or Fly attack usually works wonders.

This Pokémon can learn the following HMs and TMs:

Origin: The most powerful entry into the "macho" family gets its name from the words "macho" (duh) and "champ". That wasn't always its name, though. Nintendo's first choice was Ju-Doh.
