RTENOTITLE

RTENOTITLE
Evolved from: -Evolves into: Machoke (at level 28)
Locations: You can catch a fairly low level Machop in the Rock Tunnel in all three versions, as well as on Route 10 in Yellow. Blue/Red owners can also find slightly higher level Machop on Victory Road. Remember though: the lower the starting level, the stronger Machop eventually turns out to be when you train it.
This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques:
LV 01 - Karate ChopLV 20 - Low KickLV 25 - LeerLV 32 - Focus EnergyLV 39 - Seismic TossLV 46 - Submission
Tips: Machop is all about offense. This Fighting type may lack defensive skills and speed, but it's got high HP and Attack stats to make up for it. Overall, it's a decent choice for a Fighting Pokemon, but it's got a major handicap. Can you guess what it is? Well, its lack of speed means that it won't get the first hit in when you use it as a starting Pokemon. Because of its low Defense, this can be a devastating flaw. Luckily, its usually high HP should be able to shield Machop from the worst in many cases, but what good is a lot of power if there is a high risk of you never getting a hit in? In the grand scheme of things, Machop is a decent choice against Normal types, but you shouldn't waste too much time on turning it into a major player in your team -- even though the evolved Machamp can be a devastating weapon against players who don't know how to go up against a Fighting type. As far as attacks go, Machop doesn't learn many truly great Fighting attacks (if there is such a thing), but make sure that it learns Seismic Toss at level 39. This technique causes damage based on your level -- regardless of your Pokemon's or your attacker's type. Sadly, Seismic Toss is actually more effective when used by a non-Fighting type with high Defense, HP and Speed stats, but Machop learns it "for free", so I won't complain...

When using a Fighting Pokemon in battle, watch out that your opponent doesn't have any Psychic or Flying attacks -- otherwise the fight is over in no time at all. Use Machop against Normal, Ice or Rock Pokemon for best effect. Note that Fighting Pokemon also have strong defenses against Bug types, but their Fighting techniques don't do much damage against bugs. Of course, Seismic Toss should do the trick. On the other hand, if you're going up against Machop, use a Flying or Psychic Pokemon, or any non-Normal type that knows Psychic techniques.

This Pokémon can learn the following HMs and TMs:
TM 01 - Mega PunchTM 05 - Mega KickTM 06 - ToxicTM 08 - Body SlamTM 09 - Take DownTM 10 - Double EdgeTM 17 - SubmissionTM 18 - CounterTM 19 - Seismic TossTM 20 - RageTM 26 - EarthquakeTM 27 - FissureTM 28 - DigTM 31 - MimicTM 32 - Double TeamTM 34 - BideTM 35 - MetronomeTM 38 - Fire BlastTM 40 - Skull BashTM 44 - RestTM 48 - Rock SlideTM 50 - SubstituteHM 04 - Strength

Origin: Combine the words "macho" and "chop" and you get Machop. While this describes its Fighting type nature pretty well, Nintendo originally considered a different name: Kara-Tee.
