Make A Blowout Last Longer With These 12 Super Simple Hair Hacks
Maybe your like
One of the most luxurious things you can with your hair is to get a blowout, which means they can be pricey, so you'll want to learn how to make that blowout last. Few things are as lovely as sitting there while a skilled hairdresser washes, massages, brushes, and blows out your hair. The best part of the whole appointment? Walking out of your hair salon with movie star, Disney princess-worthy locks that make you feel like you can take on the world. The worst part? Realizing that by day three, your blowout is limp, flat, and kind of over. That's where these blowout hacks come in.
As I'm sure you've already heard, going a few days without washing your hair is really healthy, and the perfect time to try doing that is when you're attempting to preserve a blowout. You can make your blowout last three to seven (seriously) days instead of one or two days with some simple tricks that will take only a few minutes. Not only will your hair look amazing, but these hacks will also cut down on the amount of time it takes you to get ready. You won't have to worry about blowing out your hair, because it will basically already be done!
Want to know how you can extend a blowout without sporting greasy, oily hair that can only be seen in public if it's hidden under a hat? Check out these 12 blowout hacks that will keep you and your hair happy.
1. Avoid all products the first day of your blowout.
Hair products will weigh your hair down, and can sometimes make hair look greasier or feel limp faster. On the first day of your blowout, your hair will be fresh and clean, so don't mess with it!
2. Use anti-humidity spray the next few days.
Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray, $22, Amazon
Hot, humid weather is a blowout's worst enemy. Spray hair with an anti-humidity spray like this Oribe spray to keep frizz away.
3. Twist hair up into a loose bun or high ponytail while you're sleeping.
When you sleep, your hair can easily get tangled, messy and a little greasy. Avoid that by putting it up for minimal damage. Bonus: When you wake up, you'll have extra volume.
4. Sleep on a satin or silk pillow.
You can go one step further in preventing hair from getting messed up overnight by switching to satin or silk pillowcases, which keep hair shiny and smooth.
5. Avoid touching your hair as much as possible.
I know your hair feels ridiculously soft and looks amazing, but running your fingers through it will make it oily, greasy, and dirty.
6. Keep dry shampoo handy.
Dry shampoo is basically your god. As soon as your hair starts to look a little greasy, spray the roots with dry shampoo. Let it soak everything up for a few minutes before rubbing it in more. This keeps your hair looking fresh and will give you some much-needed volume.
7. On the second or third day (whenever hair gets limp), use a large-barrel curling iron for some waves.
A large curling iron gives third-day hair a much needed boost.
8. Use a shower cap while showering.
Simply pulling your hair into a bun isn't enough to keep it from getting wet. You want to avoid extra warm moisture at all costs, so a shower cap is necessary.
9. Use dry conditioner spray.
Oscar Blandi Dry Conditioner Spray, $25, Amazon
Dry conditioner is similar to dry shampoo (it adds volume), but it makes hair softer and more hydrated and touchable. This Oscar Blandi is awesome; just concentrate on the ends or your hair rather than the roots.
10. Try to avoid anything that will make you sweat a lot.
Again, you really want to avoid any unnecessary moisture, like what happens when you sweat. If you want your hair to look perfect for a few days, focus on strength-training at the gym instead of cardio, or avoid it altogether.
11. If you have to go to the gym, wear a moisture-wicking headband.
Skinny Fly-Away Tamer Headband, $12, Lululemon
If you can't go a few days without doing cardio, use a headband to keep away as much moisture and sweat as possible.
12. Use a hydrating shine spray when hair starts to look dull.
A few days in, and your hair will start to look pretty dull. Add some shine spray to make it look brand new again.
Biolage Styling Smoothing Shine Milk, $14, Amazon
Your expensive blowout doesn't seem so splurge-y when it lasts a whole week, right?
