Maps

Following the explosion, maps of the region and of other affected parts of Europe were created to document the spread of radiation and its ecological impact. Earthshots is a collection of Landsat images and text, designed to show environmental changes and to introduce remote sensing. Earthshots comes from the U.S. Geological Survey's EROS Data Center. Topics cover environmental change in agricultural, desert, disaster, urban, forest, and water locations, including Mount St. Helens, Chernobyl, Phnom Penh, and Antarctica.
