The Gonzaga Bulldogs is one of those teams that are always on the top of the NCAA yet never quite make it in the end. Gonzaga got to the national championship game against North Carolina five years ago, unfortunately the Bulldogs lost a close one, 71-65.

That's also the only Final Four Gonzaga has reached under coach Few. Getting back to the national semifinals and finishing by cutting down the nets would be the ultimate next-level breakthrough, the only missing piece from the program's recent impressive resume.

The Bulldogs have made the NCAA Tournament every year since 1999. Throughout many of those years, they were just one of 64 (now 68) teams, with no real hope to getting to the final 4. But recently they've become one of THE teams to beat, making it to two national championships in the last five years.

Since 2015, their earliest exits have been the Sweet 16 in 2016 and 2018. After that, it is two Elite Eight appearances. These numbers could be even higher if the 2020 Tournament wouldn't have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have never won a NCAA Championship.

Gonzaga's hope for this year's tournament

Gonzaga opened this year's preseason as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. hey will finish the regular season as the No. 1 ranked team in the country and they are the favorites not just to be in the Final 4, but to actually win the tournament.

And it might be unfair to put them on that spot, since even though their level is really high right now, that's not all it takes to win a championship, other several factors can intervene. But if everything keeps going as it is, the Gonzaga Bulldogs might actually take home their first NCAA Championship.
