Mark Richard Hamill, born on September 25, 1951, is an American actor and voice artist, best known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the “Star Wars” film series, which won him three Saturn Awards for the role. His other movies include “The Big Red One” in 1980 and Corvette “Summer” in 1978. In addition, Hamill is well-known for playing the “Joker” in several D.C. Comics productions, starting with “Batman: The Animated Series” from 1992 to 1994. He provided the Hobgoblin’s voice in “Spider-Man” for four years, from 1994 to 1998, “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and “Regular Show” for seven years, from 2010 to 2017. Mark Hamill was born on September 25, 1951, in Oakland, California, to Virginia Suzanne and U.S. Navy Captain William Thomas Hamill. One of seven children, four sisters, Terry, Jan, Jeanie, and Kim, and two brothers, Will and Patrick. His mother was half Swedish and half English, while his father is of English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh descent. At the Los Angeles City College, where he studied theatre, he made his acting debut in 1969 on “The Bill Cosby Show.” Later, in 1963, he co-starred in the comedy series “The Texas Wheelers.” In 1964, he played Kent Murray in a recurring role on the soap opera “General Hospital.”

When “Star Wars” was released on May 25, 1977, it became a tremendous and unexpected hit that significantly impacted the movie business. Additionally, Hamill appeared in 1978’s “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” In the popular prequels “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” in 1980 and “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” in 1983, he went on to play the lead role. The Saturn Award for ‘Best Actor’ went to Hamill for both sequels. The 1981 radio adaptation of “Star Wars” and the 1983 radio adaptation of “The Empire Strikes Back” featured a reprise of the Luke Skywalker character. He also has a role in “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” from 2017.

In the 1970s, Hamill made his voice acting debut as Corey Anders on the Saturday morning program “Jeannie.” After that, he provided the voice of Sean for Ralph Bakshi’s 1977 picture “Wizards,” which was released just three months before “Star Wars.” His most famous contribution was the 1992–1994 “Batman” television series when he voiced the ‘Joker,’ Batman’s archrival. As Brad Dourif’s replacement, Hamill, voiced the new “Chucky in Child’s Play” in 2019. He gained fame for his portrayal of ‘Joker’ in D.C. Comics, and as a result of this popularity, he went on to play several other characters, many of which were supervillains, in movies, television shows, anime, and video games.
