Introduction

Markiplier is an American professional YouTuber with an estimated net worth of $45 Million.

As of January 2024, his YouTube channel had over 21 billion video views and 36.3 million subscribers. It was once among the top 50 most-subscribed-to channels on the platform.

Net Worth History

When we first started tracking Markiplier’s net worth in 2020, he was worth approximately $24 million. However, that same year, after we published his profile, it was reported that Markiplier earned $20 million for the 2020 calendar year, ranking him as YouTube’s third-highest earner. By 2022, his net worth had reportedly grown to $35 million. He has also earned at least an additional $30 million since then, and thus his wealth has increased significantly. Based on recent estimates, Markiplier is currently worth approximately $45 Million.

YouTube Career

Mark started his first YouTube channel in March 2012, and he chose the name Markiplier as a portmanteau of his name and “multiplier.” Initially, he intended his channel to feature comedy sketches and action videos, but he soon became interested in video games as the trend gained popularity. His first Let’s Play series was Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and within the year, he had earned over 94,000 subscribers. Like TommyInnit, once Markiplier’s name became known, his channel grew exponentially, despite a few hiccups.

A Climb To The Top

Once he’d gained thousands of subscribers, Mark had trouble monetizing his channel and moved to his current channel, then called MarkiplierGAME. When he was able to start earning money, he dropped out of university to pursue his online career and moved to Los Angeles for better opportunities.

In 2015, Mark co-hosted the South By Southwest Gaming Awards and was ranked sixth in a list of the most influential celebrities among teenagers. The same year, he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, alongside fellow YouTuber Jenna Mae, following the host making jokes about Let’s Play videos. Soon after, he began living with Daniel Kyre and Ryan Magee, who ran the YouTube Channel Cyndago, but things went south fast.

In September 2015, Kyre committed suicide in his room, and Mark went on hiatus for a month before returning in October.

Continuing To Grow

Markiplier signed with William Morris Endeavor talent agency in 2016 and, in 2018, began producing exclusive content for Twitch. At this point, his YouTube channel had reached 20 million subscribers, but tragedy struck again when his step-niece was killed in a car accident. After another hiatus to be with his family, Mark returned and, in October 2019, released A Heist with Markiplier, an interactive YouTube Original. Giving the wealthiest directors in the world a run for their money, this special has 31 possible endings and was well received by fans.

A month later, Mark launched a new channel called Unus Annus, which planned to upload a video per day for a year before being deleted. This channel quickly gained a million subscribers in its first five days, and its final livestream peaked at 1.5 million simultaneous viewers. Mark and Co-creator Ethan Nestor deleted the channel at midnight on November 14, 2020, a year after its creation.

Podcasts And New Projects

In 2019, Mark and fellow YouTuber, Sean McLoughlin (Jacksepticeye), launched their clothing line, Cloak, geared toward the gaming community.

Mark debuted The Edge of Sleep podcast in September 2019 and was renewed for a second season that is still in the works. He put out one of the most popular podcasts, Distractable, in 2021 with Wade Barnes and Bob Muyskens, which rose to no. 1 on Spotify and Apple Podcast charts.

A year later, he started the podcast Go! My Favorite Sports Team, a comedy podcast where enthusiast Tyler Scheid and clueless Mark talk about sports. The same year, he released the two-part In Space with Markiplier, his second interactive YouTube Original.

In 2023, Mark signed with United Talent Agency and announced he was working on another upcoming film, an adaptation of the horror game Iron Lung.
