The easiest way to work this problem is to convert everything to the same form. Either convert everything to a fraction or convert everything to a percentage.

Converting everything to a fraction:

• 335% is converted to 3.35 to make it a decimal.
• 3.35 is converted to 3 35/100 to change it to a fraction. The fraction is not in lowest terms.
• Reducing the fraction 3 35/100 to lowest terms results in the fraction 3 7/20.
• You now must compare it to 3 3/5.
• To see if the fractions are equal you must change both to the same common denominator

  The lowest common denominator for 5 and 20 is 20. In order to change 3/5 so that it has a denominator of 20 both the numerator and denominator are multiplied by 1 in the form 4/4.

• 3/5 * 4/4 = 12/20
• You can see now that 3 12/20 is not equal to 3 7/20 therefore the third choice is not correct.

Converting everything to a percentage:

• To convert 3 3/5 to a percentage, first you must convert it to a decimal.
• To convert 3/5 to a decimal, divide the denominator into the numerator. 3 divided by 5 = .6
• Then the whole number is added to the decimal .6 making it 3.6
• To convert the decimal 3.6 to a percentage, move the decimal point two places to the right and add the percentage symbol.
• 360% is greater then 335% therefore making the third choice incorrect.
