Ian C. said on 24/Jan/22Good catch with that picture of John Wayne and the Baers, Tall. Wayne appears to be about six foot three and, since he was in costume, would have been wearing cowboy boots. The movie he was making at that time was The Horse Soldiers, shot in 1959, when Wayne was 52. So Wayne couldn't claim advanced age for his apparent less-than-six-foot-four size in the picture. So, based on the picture, I'm going to set Wayne's height at just under six foot three. The guy Max Baer Snr beat for the title - Primo Carnera - The Ambling Alp - was in fact 6'5.75" - though his height was often inflated.
