High school basketball’s premier All-American game will return this coming spring.

After missing last year due to COVID, it was announced Wednesday morning that the McDonald’s All-American game will take place March 2022 and will return to Chicago for its 45th anniversary of the game.

Chicago has been the host city quite a few times throughout the history of the game. Most recently, it hosted the game from 2011-2017.

“No city has as much Games’ history, so it’s only right that we return to Chicago for our 45th anniversary,” said Elizabeth Campbell, Senior Director of Cultural Engagement, McDonald’s USA. “It’s special to think about the impact the Games have had over all these years – whether it’s for the athletes, their local communities, Ronald McDonald House Charities and the families that are supported by the organization.”

In regards to the Kentucky Wildcats, the men;s basketball program has had 72 total players selected since 1978. Over half of those players have come since John Calipari took over as the head coach in 2009, as he has recruited and signed 40 (including transfers) during his tenure in Lexington.

That number will surely grow with the recruiting class this staff is currently putting together for 2022.

Currently holding commitments from 5-star guards Skyy Clark and Shaedon Sharpe and 5-star forward Chris Livingston, Kentucky will be looking to add a commitment from 5-star guard Cason Wallace in the coming months.

Add in where they stand with Adem Bona and Dereck Lively II, and there very well could be at least four players suiting up in Chicago next March.
