McDonald's reveal return date of Shamrock Shake

The fast food chain today announced that the popular drink will be returning

McDonald's Ireland has confirmed that the popular Shamrock Shake drink will return in time for St Patrick's Day celebrations this year.

The popular fast food chain today revealed that the drink will be available to customers from tomorrow, February 2 in restaurants nationwide.

It will be available right up until St Patrick's Day, March 17.

‌

The limited edition milkshake is made with creamy vanilla soft serve ice cream which is blended with the Shamrock Shake flavouring which gives it its green colour.

The McDonald’s Shamrock Shake will be available to purchase in McDonald’s restaurants across Ireland for dine-in and walk-in takeaway, and available at McDonald’s Drive Thru while stocks last.

The Shamrock Shake was first introduced by McDonald's in the 1970s.

Speculation around the return date of the Shamrock Shake has been mounting lately with many predicting it would be available around February 15 as that was its 2021 return date.

The restaurant chain previously brought out variations of the drink including the Shamrock Sundae in 1980 which was withdrawn after one year.

At the beginning of the pandemic, McDonald's removed Twisty Fries from its menus and has not announced whether or not they will return.

Irish customers seem to still miss them. One Twitter user joked: "Hi Richard Chambers any word on when Twisty Fries will be back?"
