My given name is Melody my mother gave me the middle name Daun pronounced Dawn my middle name came from an uncle his name was Byron Don but I really don’t know whether his name was spelled d o n or the same as mine I didn’t like my first name when I was younger but my mother said that I was always singing and I always did love music so I guess she made the right choice I had a younger sister whose name was Holly Star an elderly lady who lived in the neighborhood told my sister and I that I was born in the morning with the sun shining brightly and that my sister went as far as we’re out at night we were only about 6and 7 years old so of course we believed everything the sweet old woman said lol years later when we were in junior high we met two sisters whose first names were Melody and Holly and just like us Holly was the younger of the two always thought that it was funny

Sorry for any typos the part where I spoke about the elderly neighbor it should say that she said that the stars were out at night and that is why my sister got the middle name star LOL

I love my name! I’ve always been very creative and unique so my parents got it right! It’s my middle name Anne that I hate, it just seems too ordinary to come after such a unique first name.

I wasn’t sure if spring or baby was coming first! I choose Melody because it isn’t too common but it’s still beautiful and heard of. To me Melody is the song of Spring. Lots of happiness and uplifting vibes that comes with spring as well as a new baby. Having a baby girl in my family is a little rare so we are overjoyed to welcome Melody and I find her name fits wonderfully. We are also big music lovers!

I, too, get called Melanie alot. Through my 66 years, I have adjusted by answering after the first syllable, Mel. Aunt Lillian had my name on a list of names. My Mom wanted me spelled Melode. People always spell it wrong. It was even spelled wrong on my birth certificate, Melodee! You can see the correction!

After a difficult time building our family we finally became pregnant. Although the pregnancy was challenging music, movement, and playing the piano always made baby kick. Although we didn’t know the gender a name that honored her personality and nicknames that honored my grandparents (Mel, Dee, DeeDee). Plus I love that it’s uncommon.

I named my daughter, Melody Hope. I love music, it’s been my life since I was a child so I named her Melody in honor of that. I named her Hope for the meaning of it. I’m a single mother and at first my parents were against it since I’m young (23) and they wanted me to finish school and have my life set before I have a child, but I decided to continue with my pregnancy and have my daughter. Towards the end of my pregnancy I started having a few complications as well so my hopes and dreams, my wishes for her and her wellbeing, and my will to go on and hope to succeed go into the meaning behind Hope.

We wanted to decide on our baby’s name when we saw her and held her for the first time. Right away hearing her first cry and baby noises we loved the sounds she made. I told my SO that she sounded melodic. He agreed and we both decided our first pick name (Evelyn) didn’t feel right, then we called her Melody and knew it was her name!
