Out of all the rivalries on the show, Merlin and Morgana's easily takes the first spot. She's was abrasive, tough and very powerful - so much so that she could be seen as his ultimate opponent. Merlin: Hid His Magic From Her

One of the worst things Merlin ever did to Morgana was when he decided to hide his magic from her. One of the sole reasons Morgana turned into a villain was because she was corrupted by Morgause. With Morgana in Morgause's company for a year, the witch successfully brainwashed her sister into believing Uther and Arthur were the real evil.

If Merlin told Morgana he had magic, Morgana's character arc could have gone differently. They could have helped Arthur become a great king and taught other users that magic could be for good. Instead, Merlin let Morgana believe it was something to be feared and made her feel isolated in her own home.

Morgana: Brainwashing Merlin

In "A Servant of Two Masters," Morgana showed how ruthless she had become when she brainwashed Merlin into doing her bidding. In this episode, Merlin is abducted by Morgana after Arthur and the Knights are ambushed by mercenaries.

After taking him back to her hovel, Morgana tells Merlin that she plans to use him as a tool in her plan to assassinate Arthur. Morgana then summons a Fomorrah and implants it in Merlin's neck, leaving him at her beckon and call. She then orders the sorcerer to kill Arthur, which he almost succeeded in doing so if he wasn't thwarted by Gwen and Gaius.

Merlin: Poisoned Her

One of the worst betrayals Merlin ever committed was when he poisoned Morgana. In "The Fires of Idirsholas," Morgana casts a sleeping spell on Camelot that leaves the kingdom vulnerable to attack. Unbeknownst to Morgana, the viewer finds out that Morgana chose her to be the vessel of the enchantment.

Merlin soon works out that he has two options - Morgause could undo the spell or Morgana has to die if Camelot is to be saved. This leads to the ultimate betrayal being committed, with Merlin taking advantage of Morgana's disheveled mind to slip poison into her water. As Morgana begins to gasp for breath, fans can see the hurt and betrayal in her eyes.

Morgana: Tried To Have Him Killed

Since Merlin was responsible for the death of "good Morgana," it was only natural that she returned the favor upon her return. In "The Tears of Uther Pendragon," Morgana is rescued by Arthur and the Knights of Camelot after being missing for a year.

Although Morgana says she forgives Merlin for his actions, this is far from the truth as Merlin sees Morgana meeting up with Morgause. After following the sisters, Merlin soon realizes he walked into a trap when Morgana exposes his hiding spot and orders for him to be captured. Morgana then leaves the sorcerer at the mercy of the Serkets.

Merlin: Pushed Her Down The Stairs

In "The Crystal Cave," Merlin almost killed Morgana when he tried to prevent her from assassinating Uther. At the beginning of the episode, the kingdom is seen celebrating Morgana's birthday, with Arthur and Merlin searching for a gift to give her. However, Merlin is distracted by a vision in the Crystal Cave that sees Morgana trying to kill Uther.

When Arthur chooses a bejeweled dagger similar to the one in his vision, Merlin decides to follow Morgana. When he sees her on the way to Uther's chamber. However, as he closed the doors with his magic, he inadvertently caused Morgana to fall down the stairs and fracture her skull. Not exactly the present she wished for...

Morgana: Takes His Magic

In "The Diamond of The Day," Morgana takes away a key part of Merlin's identity when she tells Mordred of her plan to take his magic. After Mordred tells Morgana that Merlin is Emrys, the sorceress decides to strip the warlock of his magic so that he would be rendered useless in the final battle.

With no other option, Merlin is forced to abandon Arthur's side as he tries to restore his powers. However, Morgana has one final trick up her sleeve as she ambushes him in the Crystal Cave, where he remains powerless and entrapped. If it wasn't for Balinor's spirit, she would have successfully broken his spirit and possibly won the war.

Merlin: Injury To Morgause

In "The Coming of Arthur," Merlin made an enemy for life with Morgana when he seriously injures Morgause. In this episode, Arthur and the knights of the round table plan to take Camelot back from Morgana. As expected, it's not an easy challenge, especially when they realize Morgana is in control of an immortal army.

As Arthur and the knights head to the dungeons, Merlin and Lancelot decide to stop Morgana's army by going after the Cup of Life. However, Merlin runs into another problem when he sees Morgause protecting it. As a result, Merlin ends up severely injuring Morgause by blasting her into a pillar - much to Morgana's devastation.

Morgana: Kills His Best Friends

Morgana hadn't always been heartless. However, she ended up hurting Merlin in some of the worst ways when he realized she was responsible for many of his friends' deaths. For example, although she didn't do it herself, Morgana was inadvertently responsible for Lancelot's death when the knight sacrificed himself to fix her mistake.

Morgana also committed an unforgivable act when she killed Gwaine after relentlessly torturing him ("The Diamond of The Day"). If Merlin believed she could be redeemed, there was no chance of that happening after this.

Merlin: Kills Her

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the worst thing Merlin had ever done is to kill her. In "The Diamond of The Day," the battle between good and evil came to a height as Morgana and Merlin faced off at the Battle of Camlann.

After Morgana realizes that Arthur was still alive and with Merlin, she decides to hunt them down once and for all. As soon as she finds them, Morgana wastes no time in attacking Merlin. Believing the warlock to be incapacitated, Morgana turns her attention to her brother and taunts him about his failure. However, she fails to notice Merlin creep up behind her with Excalibur. As a result of her incompetence, she is killed immediately.

Morgana: Made Him Fail His Destiny

The worst thing Morgana ever did to Merlin was when she caused him to fail his destiny. While Morgana met her maker in the season 5 finale, she also got the last laugh when she succeeded in killing Arthur. Before Morgana's death, the witch managed to inflict a fatal wound on Arthur after she gave Mordred a sword forged in dragon's breath.

Morgana also prevents Merlin from saving his life when she scares their horses away. As a result, Arthur succumbs to his wounds before they reach Avalon, leaving a brokenhearted Merlin behind. Morgana may not have won the war but she did succeed in finally breaking Merlin's spirit.
