Abstract The plan requires 126 additional sworn and non-sworn staff along with the corresponding equipment and operating expenses to accomplish five tasks. These are to establish enforcement teams to target chemical sources and major traffickers and organizations, establish an intelligence component, establish a forensics component to provide lab site services, develop and present training on clandestine laboratories and safety, and establish a community outreach program to promote public awareness. The plan is based on recognition that this drug is now recognized as one of the most destructive illegal drugs ever known and that despite law enforcement successes, the growth in demand for and manufacturing of methamphetamine has outstripped the available resources.
