Metroid Dread: Where To Find All Missile Tanks In Artaria - TheGamer

Metroid Dread has a few different collectibles scattered through the world of ZDR, but none so ubiquitous as the Missile Tanks. These upgrades are invaluable when trying to battle tricky bosses, and luckily many of the Missile Tanks are a cinch to acquire. But there are also plenty that are frustratingly hidden or will put your finger dexterity to the test.

There are two types of Missile upgrades that Samus can get: a regular Missile Tank will increase Samus’ missile ammo capacity by two. A Missile+ Tank will increase Samus’ missile ammo capacity by ten. Many of the beginning Missile upgrades are easy to collect, and Samus will encounter them naturally as she progresses through the main storyline. But a good portion of the upgrades can be left to late gameplay, as they require a very good command of Samus’ various abilities. Below is a list of every Missile Tank and Missile+ Tank upgrade to be found in Artaria, and how to get them.
Artaria Overview
There are 24 Missile upgrades to get in Artaria: 22 Missile Tanks and two Missile+ Tanks.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 1
This Missile Tank is retrievable after destroying a corrupted block as part of the embedded tutorial. After Samus destroys the block, the tank will appear in front of the exit in the upper right corner of the screen.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 2
This Missile Tank is retrievable very easily early in the game. It’s just sitting out in the open in front of a locking door.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 3
When you first see this Missile Tank, Samus is falling past it on the left. Double back through another passage on the right, and she’ll open a door to find this tank sitting right in front of her.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 4
Samus will need to have the Charge Beam upgrade to get this Missile Tank. Once she opens the door to this room with her Charge Beam, she can easily slide under the floating platform to grab this upgrade.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 5
To get this Missile Tank, Samus needs to have the Spider Magnet Walls upgrade, which she gets from defeating the Artaria E.M.M.I. Use the Spider Magnet Walls ability to climb up the blue walls to the left of this tank. The wall directly to the right between Samus and the tank is entirely breakable with Samus’ regular shots. Shoot them, then jump right to grab the tank.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 6
This Missile Tank is located in the water just underneath the red teleporter in Artaria. There is a breakable block in a very obvious place at the end of a Morph Ball tunnel.
Shoot the block with Samus’ missiles, and crawl into the tunnel to get the upgrade.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 7
This Missile Tank is located just to the left of the yellow teleportal in Artaria and requires the Speed Booster ability to get. There are some Speed Booster Blocks above and to the left of the yellow teleportal. Start far to the right of them to charge up your Speed Booster.
Run to the left, jumping over the gap once Samus is at full speed, then blast through two columns of Speed Booster Blocks. Just after the second column, there are two hidden breakable blocks on the floor that Samus will destroy when she runs across them.
If you didn’t destroy them while running, you can destroy them again by shooting them. Jump down into the gap to claim the Missile Tank.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 8
This Missile Tank upgrade is located on the far right side of Artaria, near the elevator to Burenia. When you first see this upgrade, it will be while crossing a moving platform that will drop out from under Samus’ feet before she can grab the upgrade.
Space Jump right back up and grab the Missile Tank.
Artaria Missile Upgrade 9
You must have the Gravity Suit to collect this upgrade since it is located in the frozen section of Artaria. You also need the Space Jump ability. Space Jump to the location, where it is sitting out in the open. The only complication with this Missile Tank upgrade is that you must defeat a Chozo Soldier Boss located at a room en route to this location.
