Midnight Mass Season 2 Potential Release Date, Cast And Plot
Maybe your like
Midnight Mass spoilers follow.
Horror Midnight Mass is one of Netflix's most successful series this year, and yet another triumph for its creator, Mike Flanagan, who also had us hiding behind our sofas during The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Haunting of Hill House (both of which you can revisit on Netflix… if you're brave enough).
If you've already watched the tense seven episodes featuring the residents of Crockett Island being chased, chomped on and meeting other grisly ends, you'll no doubt be wondering what could happen to the (very) few islanders who survived the finale.
Could Flanagan and his team return to pick up the story?

Here's everything you need to know about Midnight Mass season two.
Midnight Mass season 2 potential release date on Netflix: When will it air?
Netflix hasn't confirmed whether the horror will be back for more episodes, but it's currently billed as a limited series, so there's a chance it will remain as a one and done.
Usually, we'd bet money on a renewal if viewing figures are strong enough, but Flanagan has already signed a multi-year overall TV deal with the streamer, which involves future projects The Midnight Club and Something is Killing the Children.
Flanagan fans will have gotten their first taste of what The Midnight Club has to offer during Netflix's 2022 Geeked Week event.
The 10-episode project will be an adaptation of Christopher Pike novel by the same name which tells the story of a group of seven teenagers who become embroiled in some seriously spooky stuff.
At Rotterdam Home (a hospice for terminally ill young adults) the group form what becomes known as the "Midnight Club" owing to their love for scaring the skin off each other by sharing scary stories at midnight.
The Rotterdam kids make an unnecessarily scary pact that the first one of them to die will be commune with the rest from beyond the grave. In true frightening fashion one of the group passes away which gives birth to some strange goings on at Rotterdam Home.
The club members will be made up of Adia, Igby Rigney (known for Fast and Furious 9), Ruth Codd, Aya Furukawa, Midnight Mass' Annarah Shepard, William Chris Sumpter (who played a young Jamie in Power) and Sauriyan Sapkota. The famed seven can be seen in the official teaser stalking their way through the manor as trailer foreboding shadows stretch across the scene and crackling thunder echoes.
Midnight Mass alumni and titular character Zach Gilford will also be an addition to the cast of The Midnight Club. He will be joined by fellow Midnight Mass cast member Matt Biedel and Grey's Anatomy's Samantha Sloyan in supporting roles. Meanwhile Heather Langenkamp will take on the role of the enigmatic doctor of Rotterdam Home.
Fans are already hyped for this latest Flanagan instalment which will hopefully fill the Midnight-Mass shaped hole in their heart.
One fan gushed over the content saying:
"Can't wait..been longing for some more Flanagan content."
While another stated:
"Feed us Mr Flanagan."
Needless to say the vibe is somewhere along the lines of 'give us more, now!'
It was announced in October 2021 that Flanagan adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's famous 1839 short story The Fall of the House of Usher was also in the works.
"I'm so excited about this series… it's like nothing else we've ever done," Flanagan tweeted when the project was announced.
The short story has already been adapted for the screen five times – including horror director Roger Corman's 1960 movie House of Usher and two different silent film versions, both made in 1928. It's creepy gothic fiction, featuring themes of madness, isolation and family, so sounds right up Mike Flanagan's street.
The story focuses on a narrator, who arrives at the Usher house to visit his friend, Roderick Usher, who lives in the mansion with his ailing sister Madeline. Things start to get seriously spooky when Madeline dies and Roderick decides to place her in the family tomb inside the house… and that's all the spoilers we're giving, as it's likely that Flanagan will bring a new twist to the classic tale.
Taking all of the above into consideration, coupled with the manner in which Midnight Mass wrapped up, we wouldn't be surprised if it really is a limited-run.

If it does get the thumbs up, we wouldn't expect it to return until the very end of 2022, or possibly later.
Midnight Mass season 2 cast: Who's in it?
Only two characters were seemingly alive at the end of season one, such was the scale of death and destruction.
Leeza Scarborough (Annarah Cymone) and Warren Flynn (Igby Rigney) had taken refuge in a rowboat on the water while Crockett Island was engulfed in flames and its population was pulverised into dust when the sun rose – so the duo are the only two who could logically return.
We also don't know if the angel managed to escape the sunrise after it was spotted flying west, there is the possibility the creature could return to the island, or find a new munching ground on the mainland (which is a scary thought). Or perhaps, another angel could be stumbled across to wreak chaos on the human world?

We know that Flanagan likes to bring back old faces for new projects, such as Kate Siegel and Rahul Kohli, so there's a strong likelihood we'll them again, but in fresh roles. And we'd also expect some new faces, too.
Midnight Mass season 2 plot: What will happen?
Your guess really is as good as ours at the moment.
If the aforementioned angel wasn't burnt to a crisp and is now lurking in the shadows somewhere, there is scope to continue. But we'd be surprised if Flanagan revisits this story. Instead, we'd expect an entirely new plot à la The Haunting of Hill House's follow-up, Bly Manor, with the potential to explore similar themes and questions regarding religion if it does operate under the same title.
Midnight Mass season 2 trailer: When can I watch it?
First up, we need that all-important greenlight.
Trailers usually arrive in the month leading up to the premiere, so once we know that, we'll have a better idea.
Expect more of the same...
