Minecraft: How To Get (& Use) Powder Snow - Screen Rant

Powder Snow is a trap block in Minecraft that naturally generates within Groves and barren Snowy Slopes. Standing atop the block will cause the player to sink gradually into or beneath it, depending on whether there's empty space or more Powder Snow underneath. Remaining within Powder Snow will also reduce mobility and, after a short period, will threaten the Minecraft player's safety by causing freezing damage. Most mobs who fall into this trap block also experience the same debuff status effects, but there are several that are immune to sinking and freezing damage, such as Polar Bears or Foxes.
Powder Snow in Minecraft can be used to build creative traps such as mob farms. For example, hostile or neutral creatures will obliviously walk onto the trap block and sink or fall into whatever fate waits for them below. One unique detail regarding hostile mobs is that Skeletons who stay in Powder Snow will transform into full-HP Strays after a short while.

To get Powder Snow in Minecraft, players will need either a bucket or cauldron. Collecting the block with an iron bucket will change the bucket into a Powder Snow Bucket. Cauldrons, on the other hand, must be placed within Groves or barren Snowy Slopes. Whenever it is raining in Groves or Snowy Slopes, it results in a snowfall, causing the cauldrons to slowly fill with snow. Once the cauldron is full, players can retrieve the snow with a bucket.
How Powder Snow Works in Minecraft
There are other particular ways players can interact with Powder Snow in Minecraft. For instance, if a player wishes to collect Goat Horns from the goats that inhabit these snowy areas, they will need to figure out how to safely traverse the frigid terrain without falling into a trap block. By wearing Leather Armor crafted from farming passive cow mobs in Minecraft, players will no longer take freezing damage while stuck in Powder Snow. Furthermore, equipping Leather Boots will allow players to walk atop the snow blocks without sinking.
Players should keep in mind that buckets are the only tool in Minecraft by which Powder Snow can be picked up or placed. If the block is mined with any other tool, like a shovel or pickaxe, the Powder Snow will be destroyed and drop nothing. Additionally, items enchanted with Silk Touch cannot pick up Powder Snow. Additionally, the trap block will naturally break if it comes into contact with fire, lava, or water.
