Dec 28, 1999 3,412 0 0 I just got in from fishing with my friends and for some reason I ended up taking the minnows home. I have them in decent sized bucket but there are alot of minnows in the bucket....probly somewhere in the 30-50 range. How often do I need to change the water to keep them alive? MichaelD

Dec 28, 1999 3,412 0 0 Excuse my retardedness but what kind of pump do I need? EDIT - I just googled it and I see what you mean. Unfortunatly I don't think I have the supplies for a pump :( Z

Feb 12, 2001 38,241 4 0 You want water that's exactly the same temperature that they're in now otherwise you run the risk of sending them into shock and killing them. No, I'm not kidding, part of the process of introducing a fish into a new aquarium is to SLOWLY acclimate it to the conditions and temperature of the water. Savarak

Oct 27, 2001 2,718 1 81 actually, the best thing is if you have a pasta strainer or something, put it on top of the bucket, and then stick it under the bathtub faucet, with a medium stream of appropriate temp. water... let the stream of water flow into the bucket and let it overflow, the strainer will keep the fish in, but let the exchange of water keeps them alive DivideBYZero

It is a misconception that air pumps oxegenate the water for aqariums. 90%+ is simply from the surface contact with the air, not from the air pumped in. Link for the Doubters D

Oct 10, 2000 15,965 1 0 The minnows are probably cheaper than buying a pump anyway. If they die they die, get more next time you go fishing. L

Dec 28, 1999 3,412 0 0 Well ive been up all night changing the water for these fvckers! I think I did kill a few of them by putting them into shock....oh well. Id say over the night about 60% of them died. Probly wasnt worth my efforts but oh well.
