Monistat 1 - How Long Does It Take To Work? What Is Normal?

I used monistat 1 for it this time. I am curious just how do I know its working? my pain and itching and swelling have decreased, but I am still having a lot of white clumpy discharge. I still feel that there is a problem down there, but it isn't crippling now. is that normal. and with the monistat one, (which I won't use again) there came a night of no sleep because it amplified everything by 100!!! itching and burning!!! so what is normal for a yeast infection when it is clearing up? Dr. Judith Mairs-Levy answered this in The Side Effects Of Monistat-1 - READ MORE I decided to use Monistat 1 as well, but the tablet didn't dissolve as fast. I'm still waiting for my to work. The itching is gone, but it does hurt a little when I urinate.Answer by Guest - May 20th 2010 Similar questions

I'm a nurse & as far as the brownish spotting goes you should see your OBGYN. It could be nothing but it also could very easily be a bacterial infection or another diagnosable disorder (most cured by a simple antibiotic)Answer by Guest - May 23rd 2010 Similar questions

I was so worried after I read the reviews but went ahead a tool the m1 day . It's true the first day I had a lot I repeat a lot of itching n burning. My vagina was swollen, I couldn't sit comfi I had to lay on my back with my legs open with a fan lol. But after the second day the yellow discharge, the itching n burning eased up a lot. Don't need the fan anymore. I will try the 3 or 7 day one next time, I think the m1 is too harsh.Answer by Hotghal - Jun 27th 2010 Similar questions

I used monistat 1 day treatment in the middle of the day, was still burning 24 hrs later. I took tylenol & advil and rubbed and cried. I even tried removing it, but it's really coated in there. I wish people wouldn't act like this is an exaggeration. They should instead be thankful that they didn't go through the same trauma. Now I have to go get the 7 day cure like I should have done in the first place. I will never use the 1 day again!Answer by anongest - Jul 12th 2010 just so you are aware fluconazole(the pill) only works specifically for C.albicans, if you have a yeast infection caused by any other candida (yeast) species, it will not work, and therefore you have to use miconazole, or triconazole and those are only in suppository forms.Answer by Guest - Sep 24th 2010 you may have an std.. should go get a test done by ur docter or clinic near you..Answer by Guest - Sep 25th 2010 So here's my theory on Monistat 1. The first time i had a yeast infection it got really bad before i did anything about it, including swelling, discharge, and an extremely painful red rash. When my doctor told me to get it, i bought the ovule insert one, and it came with the pain relief wipes and the topical ointment. However, when I put the ovule in i had just gotten out of the bath tub and was still wet, so it dissolved right away. The result was a rush of medicine down over my rash and a pain so burning that not only was i hysterical, but i couldn't sleep. Then i figured out that the medicine will eventually cause a light white film (probably a thin layer of skin) to form over the rash, but that if i scratched and tore the layer off, my rash would burn more. after leaving it alone for a few days, the rash healed, the swelling went down, and I was completely healed. The medicine ran completely out in a few days two. The next few times i bought the ovule within the first two or three days of symptoms, to avoid so much pain, and it's worked like a dream. I insert the ovule at night, right before i go to bed, and i make sure my body is completely dry. Then i put a pad in my underwear to catch any of the discharge. Because i catch it early, the rash isn't so bad and so the medicine doesn't irritate it as much. Within two days after inserting the ovule, the swelling is down and itching decreases dramatically. It still takes the described seven days or so to heal completely, but once the rash is gone and i stop itching i usually wash whatever is left of the medicine out. So yeah. The important thing is to know that the medicine does take a few days, but in my experience it's worked like a dream, and aside from the white discharge, easily taken care of with a pad, it's practically unnoticeable. You just have to let the process run its course. Try to catch the infection and start treating early, because the medicine is strong and can be extremely harsh on irritated skin. and use an ice pack to help resist scratching or rubbing at it. But if you don't get better, then you should definitely call your doctor to be sure it's not a bacterial infection or something worse.Answer by Guest - Sep 26th 2010 This is my first experience with a yeast infection. So, not wanting to deal with going to the doctor, I opted to purchase an over-the-counter solution. A one-day solution seemed ideal because I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting to insert additional treatments for 3 or 7 days (as indicated by the other options). I came home and inserted the capsule. It was really easy! Then, I applied a bit of the anti-itch cream that comes with the pack. I, then, began to research this product online and to my surprise found a bunch of negative reviews...I began to freak at the number of reviews! Oh no! What had I done?! So, I waited for the itchy, burning, pain to come...it never did. And oppose to what the reviews said and had me anticipating, I had a great night's sleep. Sure it felt a bit warm approximately an hour after inserting the treatment, but that was it. It wasn't unbearable. It is now the next day and my symptoms haven't fully gone away (as expected), but the itchy, sore feeling is not any worse than before I treated myself with Monistat 1, in fact, I feel a bit better. I'm looking forward to the next few days of recovery...I just want to get back to my normal self. Thank you to those who took the time to write positive reviews. It brought ease to my mind after reading so many negative reviews. It gave me hope that maybe I wouldn't be one who experienced negative side affects. I encourage those who have had a satisfying experience to please take time and review the product. Its a bit overwhelming and discouraging to see such a huge number of negative reviews, when in reality, it is a product that works. However, I can sympathize with those that experienced negative side affects. I would definitely use this product again. :-)Answer by Guest - Feb 24th 2011 on day four of my 2nd yeast infection, i just moved here and every doctor i call says the wait will be two weeks for a new patient. Im using monistst one, i thought since i caught it before it got too bad it wouldnt put me in pain. the whole area down there is raw and one part is bleeding.Answer by Guest - Apr 6th 2011 I just got over my first yeast infection and I used Monistat 1 day treatment. The day after all my symptoms were exponentially worse than prior to the use of the gel/cream. I called a womens clinic in town and spoke with a Triage Nurse who informed me that in almost ALL her patients who used the one or even three day treatments reported worse symptoms due to the fact that the dose is far more concentrated than the seven day treatment, which she recommends. Today would be day 4 of the yeast infection (I used the Monistat on day 2) and I have close to no symptoms. The only negative side effects from the Monistat one day would be the increase in itching and burning the next day (a little anti-itch cream does wonders for this) and I also felt tingly about 5-10 minutes after inserting the cream. Ten minutes of laying down and a few deep breaths and it was over. To be honest, I would absolutely do the one day treatment again over going though seven days of injecting cream...Answer by Guest - Apr 8th 2011 I tried Monistat-1 and it got so bad yesterday after a couple of hours after putting it in, I had to call out of work. I'm a bit freaked out cause the discharge got WORSE, but the itching and soreness is pretty much gone. I am very uncomfortable, and I have a hard time taking medicine cause it freaks me out unless a doctor gives it to me. So I am not sure if I could call my doctor or if I should wait it out.Answer by Guest - Jun 10th 2011 i just took monistat 1 day and there is an increased burning i put it in today and then about an hour or so after there was thick white gooy stuff which i assumed was the cream, then it happened again. What does this mean? is the monistat cream still in there or has it all pretty much left and is there a way i can get it outthanks Answer by woowoo203729 - Sep 20th 2011 I am experiencing my very first yeast infection, and luckily it is weak. I had a little itching and burning when I urinated for the first day or two and I tried all the natural cures such as vinegar douching, and garlic, and those took care of that. I still have the thicker than normal, kinda smelly discharge so I decided before going to the doctor I would try Monistat 1 day treatment.I cleaned myself with one of the cooling wipes provided in the package, and the inserted the tablet about an hour ago, and I found when I went to the bathroom it seems that all of the medicine from the tablet is in my panties! No burning as a lot of other people stated, but perhaps that's because I already got rid of my itching/burning... Just a little warmth is all I feel. I will keep everyone posted to see how this works! :-)Answer by Booyakah - Sep 22nd 2011 I'm with the previous poster who became concerned after reading all the negative posts. I researched monistat 1  just to when my symptoms would fully be gone and if this new flood of white discharge was normal, and I found terrifying reviews! My yeast infection was decently strong, but I've only experienced a decrease in symptoms since I put in the insert (although, like I said- soooo much white goop). From reading A LOT of different posts, it sounds like a possibility that the symptoms come more to women who have scratched (who can blame you- this burning itch was UNBELIEVABLE)? This makes sense- if your raw, a harsher medicine is going to burn more. I'm used to rashes so I managed to not scratch myself much raw-er than the yeast infection made me. I'd say, if you are especially raw down there, either from scratching and rubbing or from the yeast infection rash, go with the milder medicine. If you are red and inflamed but still have all your skin (like myself), monistat1 isn't going to be torture. But this is my only time using it, so this is just speculation.Answer by Guest - Nov 27th 2011 So Bascially what yall are saying is it takes more then 3 days? Because I put in the one day stuff about two nights ago and it still itches and burns and a very light brownish discharge (and I think it may be the medicine) is still coming out of me.Not alot tho. Should I wait longer to see if it goes away before I go back to the doctor or try another kind. I've been eating yogurt about two to three times a day to.Answer by Salsalita - Nov 30th 2011 Post Answer Follow12345678910Last Ask Question ArticleIs Tioconazole (Monistat) 1 Day Vaginal Yeast Infection Treatment Too Strong?ArticleVaginal Discharge: Knowing the difference between normal discharge and infectionArticleHow Long Does It Take for Antibiotics to Work?ArticleAre You Suffering From The Symptoms Of A Yeast Infection, Or Plagued By Another Kind Of Vaginitis?
