MoreTorque M We had the radiator replaced on our 2016 Cummins at 1,000 miles under warranty. Have about 30,000 on it now. It's my understanding the OAT MS-12106 Mopar antifreeze is supposed to be purple in color. Attached a pic of the antifreeze inside the reservoir. It looks more reddish with a slightly purple tint vs. straight purple in color. There's also some discoloration of the reservoir. Does the OAT MS-12106 antifreeze discolor like this over time, or did the dealer possibly refill with some MOPAR non-OAT antifreeze after replacing the radiator? Thanks! #1 · Oct 26, 2018 We had the radiator replaced on our 2016 Cummins at 1,000 miles under warranty. Have about 30,000 on it now. Purple and white make red. Honestly no clue. Why are you now worried about it? Any issues with truck? #5 · Oct 26, 2018 It will discolor from the flash rust in the cast iron block and head, but they could have used some non-mopar coolant in it, and those are not purple, even though they may be OAT. Dexcool is an OAT formula, and it is pink-orange looking. But, when they replaced your radiator, they should have put the part number on the invoice for the coolant they used, have you checked that? #6 · Oct 26, 2018

Great suggestion, thanks. Checked the invoice. They supposedly used 68163848AB. I believe that's the undiluted, concentrate version of the Mopar OAT MS-12106 antifreeze that's supposed to be mixed 50/50 with distilled water, right? Still curious though. For those who still have the original Mopar OAT MS-12106 factory-fill of antifreeze in their 2013+ Cummins, does it transition to a particular color after a few years of use? I certainly get the impression it doesn't remain purple. 0 Reply #7 · Oct 26, 2018 Yes, that is the correct coolant. My truck still has that coolant in it, but far from purple anymore, and my coolant reservoir is so discolored as well that it's hard to tell exactly what color the coolant is now. Guess you could syphon some coolant out of your truck and look at it in some sort of clear container to get a better idea of its current color. #8 · Oct 26, 2018 As stated be others here, it is very difficult to tell the true color looking in the tank like that. I would not be concerned but I will tell you that the mopar antifreeze and fiat antifreeze are identical with the exception mopar is purple and fiat is orange. I know this because my 2014 like many others was shipped from the factory with the fiat antifreeze because the mopar was not available at the time. #9 · Oct 27, 2018 I know this stuff is Orange as its what I used in my 3rd Gen. https://www.valvoline.com/our-products/antifreeze-products/g-05-antifreeze-coolant Insert Quotes Post Reply
