I took my baby girl in this morning to the pediatricians office for her 2 month shoots. As she was examining her she noticed that she wasn't following her with her eyes. I also explained to her that she also doesn't blink about the only time she really responds with her eyes is when the light is really bright and then she will close them.. I'm waiting for the doctor to call back now she is setting her up an appointment with a specialist but im worried sick can someone help me please!

I just watched my LO for a while and he doesnt blink. My nephew didn't follow things with his eyes and always had this distant, side-ways look for many months. I thought something was wrong with him and sometimes I would take him away and try to play with him in a quiet room and try so hard to get him to look at me or any toy or to follow it... I really thought something was wrong. But he is a happy, healthy 2 year old now.
I can not explain to you how worried I was- and he is fine now. Try to be calm and wait for the specailist to give you more information after you see them. You will love your baby just the same no matter what.
- aangel5787 Posted 06-18-10My son follows with his eyes. Once I saw this post I have Bern staring at him for 10 minutes. He doesn't blink either. I never noticed. Is this bad?Advertisement | page continues below

Seeing a specialist and catching problems early (especially eye problems) is the best thing you can do.
Resist the urge to google the problem on the internet! All it will do is cause you to worry. My DS1 sees a pediatric ophthalmologist, and they are typically very skilled and patient. Chances are, there is nothing seriously wrong with your DD, but your doctor wants to refer you to someone else because she may not know much about the condition. GL, and keep us posted!

Babies do blink less than adults. The blink, but not a whole lot. Less that 2x a minute on average.

My youngest son did that when he was about 2 months up until 4 months. They told me he had an astigmatism and was near sighted. He grew out of it and is fine now. Hardly ever blinks though, which is normal.
