Have you ever bought a new pair of black jeans only to find they smell funny?I just bought a new pair of skinny jeans and when I brought them home I gave them a sniff, YUCK! I always wondered, why the heck do black jeans smell funny and what exactly is that smell? I made sure that I was not crazy so I went (back out shopping) sniffing around to different stores and all the black jeans do smell -- try it the next time you're out!

So what makes your black jeans smell? When researching I found super science terms trying to explain: hydroxy-polycarboxylic acids, aminomethyl phosphonate, and sodium polyphosphates, and reducing agents such as sodium bisulfite and hydrosulfite. I have no idea what most of these words mean.

Really it comes down to this, black jeans have been dyed, dyed again and yet died again, just to be black. To make that color stays they have to use a ton of chemicals and the end result they smell like sulfur! If you love the smell of sulfur then you're just weird and you can ignore the steps below! Things You'll Need:

• Smelly Black Jeans
• Washing machine
• Laundry detergent
• 1/2 cup of white vinegar
• Dryer

Step 1: wash your Black Jeans at least once inside out and with other dark items. with all your normal smell good detergent.

Step 2: If your jeans still smell start the washing process again but this time doesn't add any fabric softener-set your washing cycle to pause before the final rinse.

Step 3: Wait on pins and needles- for the final rinse cycle. When the final rinse is going, open the washing machine and pour in 1/2 cup of white vinegar.

Step 4: Once the rinse cycle is finished,  move your jeans over to the dryer and dry them completely! This smell should be completely neutralized; there should be no need to re-wash or rinse them again.
