Sam nicklas S I have had this corn snake for about a year and a half and I have never noticed this problem until now, he seems to be making a sneezing noise is this something I should be worried about? Advice would be deeply appreciated H #1 · Mar 28, 2014 (Edited) I have had this corn snake for about a year and a half and I have never noticed this problem until now, he seems to be making a sneezing noise is this something I should be worried about? Advice would be deeply appreciated H Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Mar 29, 2014 well yes it sounds like hes got an RI (respiratory infection - like a cold for us) its a lot more serious for snakes though, as they arent able to cough up the mucus as we can...so the danger is, eventually the lung fills with mucus etc. and the snake effectively drowns. In short, get to the vets! although there are some people who advocate treating themselves with various methods. #3 · Mar 29, 2014 When a snake goes into shed you can get a kind of snuffling noise if the loose skin interfers with the nasal passageway. You might mistake that for a sneeze. Might be worth ruling out. #4 · Mar 29, 2014 Vet asap! #5 · Mar 29, 2014 As above VETS ASAP #6 · Mar 29, 2014 Definitely book an appointment with the vets ASAP. It could be a respiratory infection, which can be fairly common, but as already said they are very dangerous for snakes- the fact they only have one lung doesn't help things either. In the short term, what temperatures are you keeping it at and how are you measuring/ controlling it. It may be worth boosting the temperature by a couple of degrees to help its immune system, but this won't solve the problem and you need to go to a vet. #7 · Mar 29, 2014 I think that's wat it is he gad only done it twice and he hasn't done it since last night #8 · Mar 30, 2014 Thought you said it was sneezing a lot? Show more replies 0 Reply #10 · Mar 30, 2014 Snakes, like other animals, are able to sneeze and tbh 2 sneezes and thinking about a vet is over panicing a wee bit. Unless there's obvious signs of an RI - snake holding its head up, mouth open, bubbles from the nose then I wouldn't be jumping to it being an RI over 2 sneezes. Insert Quotes Post Reply
