My Hero Academia: Class 1-A, Ranked By Height - CBR

The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia is an ultra-successful anime adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi's manga that shares the same name. Izuku Midoriya dreams of being the world's number-one hero despite being born without a Quirk and is able to do so with the help of his mentor, All Might, who passes down his incredibly powerful One For All Quirk. Mastering his newfound power isn't the only thing he has to get accustomed to, though, as he also has to navigate relationships with his newfound classmates.

Many of Class 1-A's members end up being incredibly influential on Izuku, and he makes many close friends within his class. At the same time, there's a healthy competitive spirit that flows throughout, as they have to prove themselves and be recognized in order to stand in the spotlight. In a class full of students who'd turn anything into a contest, it's fun to take a look at something basic such as character height, and see who'd come out on top.

Updated on July 1st, 2024: This list of Class 1-A heights has been updated with more information and suits CBR's current formatting standards.

20 Minoru Mineta Is Tiny But Has a Tricky Quirk

Minoru Mineta has a reputation for being the class creep, and he stands out due to just how short he is compared to everyone else. Mineta stands at a petite 3'6½", or 108cm. On the plus side, that makes Minoru a much smaller target in battle.

In combat, Minoru Mineta can use his Pop-Off Quirk to remove the grape-like growths on his head, which can be used in all kinds of ways. Minoru can jump on his springy spheres to boost his mobility, or he can use their sticky surfaces to trap his enemies or hold items together, like Hanta Sero's Tape Quirk. Fortunately for Minoru, his short size and unimpressive strength don't hold him back from using his Quirk well.

19 Tsuyu Asui Puts Her Frog Quirk to Good Use

Tsuyu Asui often serves as a big-sister type for many of the other members within Class 1-A, which makes her overall short stature compared to her classmates humorous. She stands at 4'11", or 150cm. Her shorter stature could partially be explained by the nature of her Frog Quirk, which does come with some anatomical changes.

Tsuyu can use her sticky hands and feet to climb sheer surfaces with ease, and she can leap rather far on her froggy legs, too. Her tongue is her single best weapon, with Tsuyu often using her long, strong tongue to grab things. She can swing around with that tongue, or seize debris and capture people with ease. That's how she formed the Fafrotskies combo with Ochaco when Ocacho controls an object's weight.

18 Toru Hagakure Is Class 1-A's Stealthy Invisible Girl

Toru Hagakure is one of Class 1-A's shortest students, coming in at exactly 5' tall or 152cm. She is petite and has limited physical strength, but like her classmate Minoru Mineta, Toru can get away with it because her Quirk has nothing to do with martial arts or physical feats. Toru's main asset is her stealth, sneaking around unseen to collect data.

Toru's Quirk doesn't just make her invisible; it also lets her control light that passes through her body, so she can focus light and blind her opponents with intense light flashes. She can even combo her invisibility with Yuga Aoyama's dazzling Navel Laser Quirk, which will briefly show her true body, so My Hero Academia fans finally know what Toru Hagakura actually looks like.

Kyoka Jiro is one of the more apathetic members of the class who, while she appears outwardly cool, struggles with insecurities surrounding her appearance and talents. She's able to overcome the latter over time in a great developmental moment. She stands at 5'½", or 154cm, just barely letting her beat Toru.

Kyoka Jiro is an effective support hero with her Earphone Jack Quirk, which focuses on sound waves. With it, Kyoka can hear things from far away, even in other rooms, so she's a good sound-based scout. As for her personal arc, Kyoka learned to openly embrace her love of music rather than hide it, which was a burden off her shoulders.

Class 1-A has been the focus of most of My Hero Academia and it's safe to say they have some talented girls in there.

Posts 2

Ochaco Uraraka is the ever-bubbly, ever-determined lead female of the series, getting some of the most development alongside characters like Izuku and Bakugo. Much like the former, she has a heart of gold and wants to become a hero to make people smile. She also happens to be one of the shorter members of Class 1-A, coming in at 5'1½", or 156cm.

Ochaco is roughly average height for Japanese teenage girls, maybe a tad on the short side, but villains shouldn't underestimate her. After losing to Katsuki Bakugo in the U.A. sports festival, Ochaco learned martial arts from Gunhead, which helped her survive a battle against Himiko Toga. She can also form an effective, devastating combo with Tsuyu Asui.

15 Fumikage Tokoyami Has Mastered His Terrifying Dark Shadow Quirk

5'2" / 158cm

Fumikage Tokoyami is a quiet and mature character who also tends to scare others off due to his dark hobbies. Despite how he may be perceived by others, he works well in a team and also does his best not to harm others when his Quirk is driven out of control.

After Mineta, Fumikage is the shortest boy in the class, standing at 5'2", or 158cm. Fortunately for him, Fumikage is another case where a student's physical size and strength don't matter much because Fumikage's Dark Shadow does all the fighting for him.

14 Mina Ashido Fights With a Dancer's Grace

5'2½" / 159cm

Mina Ashido is a cheerful, easygoing girl who's highly sociable as well as athletic. While she can appear airheaded due to her aloof approach to school, she can be serious when it counts, as shown during some of her hero training as well as when she studies under Momo.

When it comes to her height, Mina just barely beats out Tokoyami, coming in at 5'2½", or 159cm. Mina is a typical height for girls her age, but no matter her height, she is comfortable in her body, as her incredible grace and balance show. She is a highly skilled dancer, making her elegant in a fight while using her Acid Quirk.

13 Izuku Midoriya Is the Final Wielder of One For All

5'5½" / 166cm

Izuku Midoriya is the ever-determined protagonist of the series on a journey to become the world's #1 hero. However, he can't place first every time, and one area where he falters compared to many of his classmates is his height. He sits a bit below the middle of the class, coming in at 5'5½", or 166cm.

Deku's average height is more than made up for by his strength and Quirk. He trained for a whole year just to receive One For All, and he has a well-muscled body to go with it. With that power, Deku has done Plus Ultra time and again, and he's undergone a lot of growth in just one year's time as All Might's true heir.

12 Yuga Aoyama Can't Stop Sparkling as Class 1-A's Flashiest Hero

5'6" / 168cm

Yuga Aoyama stands at 5'6", or 168cm, a typical height for a Japanese teenage boy. Whatever his height, though, Yuga has trouble using his Navel Laser Quirk, because that Quirk's usage tends to strain his body and upset his stomach. It's unclear if rigorous physical training would fix that, but it seems unlikely.

As My Hero Academia fans have recently learned, Yuga Aoyama was born Quirkless, just like Deku, so his body was never prepared to wield the Navel Laser Quirk that All For One gave him. That Quirk gift came with many strings attached, hence Yuga's betrayal, but now this sparkly hero is ready to make up for it and fight back against the symbol of evil.

How My Hero Academia Doomed Class 1-A From the Very Start

My Hero Academia did well as an ensemble anime, but One For All ensured that only Deku would matter as the series' endgame unfolds.

Posts By Louis Kemner

Denki Kaminari seems content to blend into the background of Class 1-A for the most part, aside from a few scenes of goofy comic relief and some cool action sequences. Denki is a boy of average height and a typical build, but his Quirk does help set him apart. His electric Quirk is powerful, and it's even more effective when Denki uses the right hero equipment to focus its power.

Denki is also noted for being Class 1-A's worst student, ranking 20th in grades, but at least he benefited from Momo's tutelage to avoid failing his recent exams. He is also known for his love of hamburgers and his role as someone who can get along with everyone in Class 1-A.
