Myzone - What Does It Do, And Why Do I Need It? – The Journey
Maybe your like
Myzone offers a versatile and fun way to stay motivated and hit your fitness goals.
Whether that’s increasing the amount of exercise you do, fat loss, or muscle gain, Myzone can help get you on the right path.
What is Myzone?
Myzone is a fantastic platform for tracking your workouts. By wearing a fitness tracker device, you can easily monitor your heart rate, calories burned, and workout intensity. With the ability to display several real-time results, Myzone allows you to train within a group setting or individually. This creates fantastic opportunities to mix up your workouts using your smartphone or screen in the gym.
How Does it Work?
Myzone works by monitoring your heart rate as you exercise. Displaying how many calories you are burning on your chosen device allows you to push yourself and see real-time results.
Cleverly categorising the level of intensity as you work into five colour-coded zones, Myzone allows you to monitor how hard your heart is working and earn Myzone Effort Points (MEPs) as you go.
Each colour-coded zone awards you points, starting from grey and working up to red, where your heart is working at maximum effort. The harder you work, the more MEPs you will earn, perfect for promoting a bit of healthy competition and motivation. MEPs are awarded as a certain amount of points per minute, depending on which intensity zone you are working in.

Myzone Status Levels
While you are busy building up your MEPs, you can also participate in Myzone challenges. Within the app, challenges are available for individual motivation or a bit of fun and competition between groups of Myzone users.
You are automatically entered into a personal challenge to earn at least 1300 MEPs per month to build up your Myzone status. Starting at iron, and progressing every month through Bronze, Silver, and Gold, you can eventually reach the Hall of Fame. However, if you break the chain and miss a month, your status level will decrease.

What Devices are Available?
Myzone is available in a few different device options. Available from The Journey, the MZ-3 belt, MZ-1 belt, and MZ-Switch offer multiple options to monitor your workouts.
For cyclists, runners and swimmers, the MZ-Switch is an option that benefits the user by displaying results on your wrist, arm, or chest for instant viewing.
The MZ-3 belt connects to your smartphone or screen, providing versatility and freedom as you work out. The built-in memory allows you to go tech-free to store and view your results, perfect for runners, cyclists, or swimmers who would rather leave their smartphones at home.
The MZ-1 belt offers all the great benefits of the MZ-3 without the built-in memory function. Connect to your smartphone, screen, or gym and monitor your workout live. Ideal for athletes who work out in a gym or at home, and do not require the belt to store workouts to upload at a later date. The MZ-1 will keep you on track with your fitness goals.

What are the Benefits of Using Myzone?
Myzone devices provide instant visual representations of your fitness level. This provides you with the perfect platform to improve at your own pace with instant, visible results.
Creating healthy competition between friends and fellow fitness class members is an excellent way to motivate and stay accountable for each other whilst having fun and smashing your fitness goals.
How does The Journey use Myzone?
When you arrive at the gym wearing your belt, you appear automatically on the big screen. This is an instant motivator as you are able to see others working out alongside you.
Any MEPs you earn in your session are displayed on the screen in real-time. This is a fantastic motivator, especially if you have set a target for the session. Our favourite is the 100 MEP/session challenge.
The Journey team also designs their own mini-challenges which are a lot of fun. Our members really credit this to help keep them motivated, especially on days they are not in the gym.
Sometimes challenges are individually-based, and sometimes they are group-based. There are great prizes up for grabs, but often it’s the satisfaction of contributing to the MEP totaliser that means something.

Lastly, Myzone’s HR Zones are a visual way for you to see how hard you are working. However, it’s not all about getting (and staying) in the ‘red’ zone as people might think. Your Coaches actively try to keep you in, what we call, ‘Your Primed Zone’. This is the zone that will deliver you the best results in line with your training program and overall goals.
For example, if your goal is to lose body fat, we will safely encourage you to keep in the higher zones, like ‘green, yellow, and red’. Here you’ll be burning more calories. Or, if your goal is to build muscle, we can use the coloured zones to help us see when you are ready to do your next set.
Of course, it’s all about balance which is why we’re here to help guide you through every session. If you are interested in benefiting from Myzone, purchase a device from our online shop, or pop into The Journey to get started.
