Naruto: 10 Times Sasuke Did Something Good (While He Was Evil)

Sasuke Uchiha was the secondary protagonist of the Naruto series and arguably the series' most divisive character. Although he once served in Team Seven under Kakashi, he was corrupted by Orochimaru, who manipulated him by exploiting his desire for revenge.

While many of Sasuke's worst atrocities have occurred ever since departing the Leaf, there have been a number of ways he's actually helped the heroes during his villainous stage of life. By identifying them, we can better ascertain what Naruto saw in his friend all along and make a stronger case for his redemption.
10 Sasuke Killed Deidara, One Of The Akatsuki's Deadliest Members
After the deal to join the Akatsuki fell through, Sasuke maintained his vengeful path and eventually encountered the explosives expert, Deidara. Though the artist was a formidable adversary capable of weaving microscopic detonation charges into his target's bloodstream, the avenging Uchiha emerged victorious.
This was a massive boon to Konoha and its allies, especially to circumvent the grave, international turmoil Sasuke had been causing. By ending Deidara's life, he accidentally avenged the Sand village for what the Akatsuki did to Gaara.
9 Sasuke Helped Team Seven Fight Madara
Sasuke joined the Fourth Shinobi War as a surprising ally to Naruto. Together, they fought against the tyrannical Madara Uchiha, a villain so daunting that not even the combined might of the Kage or Eight Gates Might Guy could defeat him.
While Team Seven would not deliver the final blow against the patriarch Uchiha, Sasuke's efforts minimized the risk that Naruto faced in the encounter. Were it not for his aid, the future Hokage may not have survived before Zetsu betrayed his master and put the final stage of his plan into motion.
8 Sasuke Fulfilled Itachi's Plan For Him By Taking His Life
Since the beginning, Itachi had hoped to use his death in order to evolve Sasuke's sharingan and develop him into a reliable guardian of the Leaf. During their final battle, the rogue Uchiha would fulfill his brother's plan - at least partially.
While Obito's revelation about the role Danzo played in the Uchiha genocide spurred Sasuke's rage even further, he would change his plans about Konoha's fate by the conclusion of the Fourth Shinobi War. The result was less personal to the Leaf, albeit far more ruthless to the world at large.
7 Sasuke Protected Team Seven From The Infinite Tsukuyomi
When the Infinite Tsukuyomi was cast, it engulfed the entire world and placed every living person at grave risk. Although it was virtually unavoidable, Sasuke managed to save his former comrades by enveloping them within his Susanoo.

This allowed them to persevere by the time the jutsu was over and all of its victims had been ensnared. Moreover, it gave the Allied Shinobi Forces a fighting chance against the final obstacles between them and a lasting global peace that the world had yet to see before.
6 Sasuke Provided A Home For His Forlorn Comrades
Taka was an organization consisting of Orochimaru's former experiments and was led by Sasuke Uchiha. Among their numbers were the water-manipulator Suigetsu, Uzumaki medical ninja Karin, and the capricious Jugo.
Although an unlikely team, Sasuke's quest gave the four youths direction, purpose, and a sense of community. While he generally treated his new friends well, he viewed Karin as expendable during the fight against Danzo Shimura. This was likely on account of how she resembled Sakura Haruno and how he viewed her romantic obsessions as a grating nuisance.
5 Sasuke Executed The Corrupt Danzo Shimura
Danzo Shimura's crimes haunted the Leaf and constantly created new adversaries. Worse yet, he intended to use Naruto as a weapon and usurped Tsunade's rightful place in the Five Kage summit.

However, none of Konoha's shinobi could lay a finger on him since he was an elder of the village. Since Sasuke had no such reservations about breaking the rules, especially because Shimura was directly responsible for the Uchiha genocide, he murdered him on a bridge before an approving Obito. His actions ended several decades of political corruption with a single application of the chidori.
4 Sasuke Killed Orochimaru & Ended His Scheming
Having been bedridden and in ailing health, Orochimaru sought to claim Sasuke's body and finally fulfill the terms of their agreement. However, Sasuke had already mastered many of the Sannin's jutsu by this time and perfected his own. When the mad scientist's request was finally made, his student refused and struck him dead.
This put an end to his scheming and allowed Konoha to focus on the more prevalent threat of the Akatsuki. While Sasuke would be compelled to use Anko's curse mark to resurrect his former mentor later, Orochimaru had since abandoned his plans to destroy the Leaf and was more interested in gauging how the world would develop without his meddling.
3 Sasuke Was Responsible For Resurrecting The Kage
When Sasuke sought to determine the true nature of the Leaf village, his only recourse was to resurrect the four Hokage of the past and interrogate them personally. This provided valuable input as to how he should proceed with his plans and whether or not Konoha should be spared.

Considering their formidable skills (and the fact that Minato gave his son the second half of Kurama's chakra), the heroes wouldn't have stood a chance without them.
2 Sasuke Worked With Itachi To Defeat Kabuto
Sasuke and Itachi joined forces to put an end to Kabuto and the edo tensei minions he controlled. Despite his gangly appearance, the villain was much stronger than either of the brothers could have anticipated, having mastered snake sage jutsu and the powers of the Sound Four.
Despite this, Itachi was able to place him in the Izanami with Sasuke's help, thereby subduing the threat he posed and allowing the elder Uchiha to rest in peace.
1 Sasuke Helped Naruto Defeat Kaguya
With most of the world subjugated by the Infinite Tsukuyomi, few could stand against Kaguya Otsutsuki and her horrifying, dimension-warping powers. Realizing the threat that she posed to both of their agendas, Sasuke and Naruto used their respective chakra to seal her and Zetsu away, ending several generations of strife and machinations.
Team Seven wouldn't have been successful without the Uchiha's help, and the battle harkened back to their first group mission against Zabuza in the Land of Waves. Despite the sentimental beauty of the moment, it precipitated Sasuke's final and most brazen act of malice.
